YouGov Shares Insights on UK Online Slots Player Behaviors
Newly released research uncovers details regarding the preferences of online slots players in the UK
As one of the most popular forms of gambling activities in the UK, online slots attract young adults between the ages of 18 and 34, who are spending more than £100 ($126) per month, a new report released from YouGov suggests.
Online Slots Attract More Young People Compared to Betting, Online Lottery
The recent white paper highlighted key differences when it comes to spending and audiences attracted by online casino gambling, sports betting and online lotteries. While iGaming activities were the choice of approximately 16% of the players, online gambling attracted younger audiences.
An estimated 32% of the online slots players fell in the category of 18 to 34 years old, a stark contrast when compared to the same group age interested in online betting which was an estimated 23%. Notably, online poker players were primarily part of this demographic group with 42% belonging to the 18 to 34 age group.
Interestingly, an overwhelming majority of nearly half of all online gambling players belonged to the 35 to 54 age group. This demographic represented approximately 48% of the iGaming players, making them a core group for online gambling operators.
When it comes to spending, YouGov’s report uncovered that approximately 35% of online gamblers spend more than £100 ($126) per month, while just above 10% spend more than £500 ($504) every month. This once again makes the online casino players stand out when compared to online sports bettors where only 16% admitted to spending more than £100 ($126) per month. On the other hand, some 42% of online poker players admitted to spending more than £100 ($126) every month.
iGaming Players Consider Different Factors When Selecting a Provider
Equally as important, YouGov’s insights included details on what features online slots gamblers consider when selecting an operator as well as a breakdown of the popularity of licensed providers. Per this data, 51% of the players in the UK admitted that their chosen provider must have an intuitive and easy to use application or website.
Offering lucrative promotions and odd was the response of 44% of the players, while 43% said that they would select an operator based on specific welcome deals and offers. The availability of a wide range of online casino games and slots was the response of 37% of the players, while for 28% the entertainment factor was important when selecting and iGaming company.
When it comes to the popularity of the brands among online casino slot players, Sky Bet and William Hill were recognized as leaders with 23% share. Some 20% of the players favored Ladbrokes, while Paddy Power was the answer by 19% of the online slots players. Based on the insights, the market share of bet365 was 18%, while Sky Vegas and Coral had a 15% market share each.
