Drake’s Drone Stunt Revealed as Social Sweeps Casino Promo

Drake is currently in Australia, touring major cities like Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane until March 7.

Drake is currently in Australia, touring major cities like Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane until March 7

While on the road, the Canadian rapper spends his downtime indulging in one of his favorite pastimes, gambling, while promoting his go-to online casino, Stake

In typical Drake fashion, the rapper has been pushing the crypto-based online casino and betting platform to his vast audience. His latest marketing stunt has, once again, gone viral.

The Sandal Throw

The over-the-top gambling persona, showcasing multi-million dollar bets and sponsorship deals, has often raised questions about whether his bets are genuine or part of his lucrative Stake deal.

This week, a video surfaced showing Drake allegedly reacting to a drone hovering near his penthouse at Crown Sydney

In the footage, Drake is seen throwing an orange sandal at the drone in frustration. The video kicks off with Drake’s laptop open to Stake when he spots a drone hovering nearby.

He steps out onto his high-rise balcony on the 60th floor, then proceeds to toss a sandal at the flying device.

The video quickly went viral, with many fans questioning its authenticity.

In a follow-up video, an orange sandal was supposedly discovered and washed up on the shore near the lavish casino resort that opened in December 2020 at a cost exceeding $1.4 billion.

However, sharp-eyed social media users quickly identified the individual controlling the drone reflected in the windows of Drake’s penthouse, revealing the stunt to be staged.

A deeper investigation revealed the video was staged as part of a marketing campaign for Stake.

Drake apparently confirmed the stunt with his own caption: “The stakes are high. But so am I,” referencing both the online casino’s name and the staged nature of the video.

His sponsorship deal with Stake is estimated to be worth over $100 million. In January, the casino expanded its European footprint by acquiring VinderCasino in Denmark after partnering with Kambi with the aim of boosting sports betting.

Not His First Rodeo

The 38-year-old has a long history of using unconventional marketing tactics

For the release of the “Her Loss” album in 2022, he orchestrated a fake Howard Stern interview and even staged an SNL appearance, where Michael B. Jordan pretended to introduce him.

Whether his latest drone stunt is linked to promoting his new album remains unclear, especially given the mixed reception to the project.

Some reviewers have criticized “$OME $EXY $ONGS 4 U” as mediocre, and a few fans have even called it dull.

The Super Bowl Craze to Cost Drake 500K Followers

Drake’s reputation has recently taken a hit, particularly after the Super Bowl earlier this month.

During the game, Kendrick Lamar performed his diss track “Not Like Us” during the halftime show, which famously referenced Drake.

Lamar’s performance also included an iconic moment that featured Serena Williams, Drake’s ex-girlfriend, dancing the “Crip Walk,” a controversial move that immediately added more fuel to the fire.

As a result, many fans decided to unfollow Drake on social media.

Data from Cases.gg, a platform that analyzes social media activity, shows Drake has lost over three million Instagram followers since Lamar released the song in May 2024

Following the Super Bowl, he’s expected to lose an additional 500,000 followers, making his already controversial social media presence even more precarious.

However, Drake’s latest marketing stunt could potentially cost him even more fans.At the end of January, the so-called Drake curse was once again broken as the rapper showed off a hefty $700,000 win at Crown Melbourne.
