Man Wins $300K at Michigan Lottery Scratch Card Game

A 64-year-old man from Muskegon County has won $300,000 playing a Fire & Ice Cashword instant game offered by the Michigan Lottery, joining an impressive roster of state winners in July

A lucky 64-year-old man from Muskegon County won a surprising $300,000 at the Fire & Ice Cashword instant game offered by the Michigan Lottery.

The man, who chose to remain anonymous, this way joined the impressively long roster of fortunate lotto winners announced by the lottery this month alone.

“I Thought I Won $100”

After scratching off the card, the man initially thought he had won $100. Despite having experience playing the game “often,” as he explained, as he was still confused regarding the amount he had won, he decided to scan the ticket “to be sure.”

“When a message to file a claim at the Lottery office came up, I thought: ‘What is going on? It’s only a $100 winner,” he added.

The man, who had purchased his ticket at the Northshore E-Z Mart at 1385 Holton Road in North Muskegon, then handed the lucky piece of paper to the clerk.

Shortly after, the clerk broke down the big news, letting him know he had won the jackpot.

To pass the news to his family in an exciting manner, the man gave his son his ticket and asked him to take a look at it.

His son immediately scanned it using his Lottery app and “was stunned when $300,000 came up on the screen.”

The player already visited the headquarters of the Lottery to redeem his jackpot and start putting it to good use while living “comfortably.”

His plans include paying bills, paying off his truck, and making some savings.

Other Michigan Lottery Winners in July

In very similar news, not even a week ago, a 54-year-old Michigan woman won $300,000 from a scratch-off ticket.

The fortunate woman was initially under the impression that she was dealing with a malfunctioning machine when she checked her ticket, so she decided to go to the cashier and double-check her ticket.

The woman from Lapeer County soon learned that she was the winner of the top prize. She had also played the Fire & Ice Cashword instant game with a ticket purchased at Murphy USA at 579 East Genesee Street in Lapeer

Similar to the man in Muskegon County, the Lapeer woman was also a frequent Cashword player, adding she constantly scans her tickets at the store just to be sure.

On June 3, a 67-year-old man from Oak Park, Michigan learned that he was the winner of a $170,000 jackpot on a Fantasy 5 game offered by the Michigan Lottery.

The man, who was named Russell Morgenstern, was this close to losing the opportunity to win as he only purchased his ticket an hour ahead of the time of the drawing using the Lottery’s online platform.

When inquired about his future plans, the man said he planned to retire after completing the renovation work on his lake house.

In other news, a 52-year-old man from Saginaw County won a massive $4 million jackpot on an Ultimate scratch-off instant game.

The anonymous winner purchased his ticket at the Fastlane convenience store at 3540 State Street in Saginaw.
