Sean Perry Accuses Fellow Poker Pro Player in Betting Scam

The poker pro claimed that one of his rivals, together with an associate, tried to steal millions of dollars in EV from him

Sean Perry, a high-stakes sports bettor and professional poker player, recently encouraged fellow poker pros to come out and admit their involvement in “highly illegal things.” The poker pro took it to his personal page on X, formerly Twitter, to encourage Jason Mercier, a fellow poker pro, to admit that he was involved in cheating and engaging in an illegal gambling ring.

On Friday, Perry warned that unless Mercier shares to the public his involvement in the alleged illegal activities, he will take measures to make everything public. The poker pro, who had also been accused of cheating in the past, stayed true to his word and released a statement on Saturday.

In his post on X, Perry claimed that he engaged in sports betting with Mercier. “So I was gambling daily against Jason betting I’d say about $100k a game (the max he would give me at the time) and was up probably a few million,” he wrote.

However, Perry said that at some point he was approached by Dylan Gang, a person he described as Mercier’s silent partner. Perry claimed that Gang pretended to be a friend of his and gave him access to “very sharp info that will win long term.”

The rivalry between Perry and Mercier continued to grow and the limits of the games between the duo increased to approximately $500,000 per game. However, after Gang allegedly sent Perry a screenshot by mistake, he realized that Gang was indeed a silent partner of Mercier.

The Two Allegedly Tried to Steal Millions of Dollars from Perry

Perry said that he was happy that he uncovered the alleged fraudulent activity when he did. He claimed that Gang and Mercier attempted to steal millions in expected value (EV) from him with the help of the aforementioned scheme.

“These guys tried to steal millions of dollars in EV from me. Obviously, the only reason Jason upped his limits was because he was in on this scandal with Dylan and they were chopping up the action. Thank God I caught them when I did,” wrote Perry.

He accused Mercier of running an “illegal bookie shop,” while claiming that Gang ran “high stakes illegal poker games,” that enabled him to earn more than $50,000 per day. Perry claimed that Gang’s poker operation included escort girls that the customers could pay to have sex with.

While some of Perry’s fan base supported him in exposing the alleged scheme, others criticized him with one user writing: “A scammer getting scammed?”

Media outlets reported that Perry set aside some money to help spread the word. The poker pro reportedly paid $69 to random users online who shared his post on the matter.

Mercier is yet to officially respond to the allegations.
