Illinois Player Hits $560M Mega Millions Jackpot

This is the first time in Mega Millions history a ticket purchased online has won the jackpot prize

Someone has finally won the Mega Millions jackpot after three months of unsuccessful attempts across America. The winning ticket was purchased online by a lucky player in Illinois who picked all numbers, including the Mega ball, correctly.

For context, the winning numbers for the Tuesday drawing were 19, 37, 40, 63 and 69. The gold Mega ball number was 17.

At the time of the drawing, the jackpot had reached a whopping $560 million after months of unsuccessful drawings. This is notably the ninth-largest jackpot in the history of Mega Millions.

The lucky winner, who, as of the time of this writing, is yet to come forward and claim their prize, would be able to choose whether to claim the $560 million in annual installments or the lump cash payout of $264 million.

This is notably the 14th time a person from Illinois has won a share of the Mega Millions jackpot. More importantly, this was the first time a jackpot-winning Mega Millions ticket was sold online.

Other Players Won Smaller Prizes

In the meantime, a player from California and a player from Maryland succeeded in matching all numbers but the golden Mega ball. As a result, the two of them are eligible to claim prizes of $1 million.

A total of 27 players, on the other hand, succeeded in matching four white numbers plus the Mega ball, earning prizes of $10,000. Four of them, however, were also Megaplier winners, meaning that they will take $30,000 instead.

The Mega Million jackpot has now been reset to $20 million with a cash option of $9.4 million. The next drawing is set to take place next Friday.

The chances of winning the Mega Millions jackpot stand at approximately 1 in 302,575,350.

The previous Mega Millions jackpot was won by a player in New Jersey who guessed all numbers correctly, securing themselves a $1.13 billion payday. This was notably the fifth-largest jackpot in Mega Millions’ history.

In the meantime, the Powerball prize survived the Monday draw. Now standing at almost $200 million, the prize is sure to change the winning player’s life. The next drawing is set to take place tomorrow.

Now just let the person that hit the lottery know that I could really use $100,000 in fixing my home and paying off my wife’s bankruptcy. We would deeply appreciate a bit of help.
