Powerball Jackpot Goes Unclaimed, Two Players Win $1M
For context, the winning white numbers were 4, 5, 15, 32 and 62, with a Powerball of 21
The Powerball jackpot has gone unclaimed once again but that doesn’t mean that some players didn’t win big.
Standing at approximately $73 million and $35.2 million in lump cash value at the time of June 22’s drawing, the jackpot promised to change the life of whoever won it. However, no one managed to correctly match all five white numbers and the red Powerball, meaning that the prize will continue growing.
For context, the winning white numbers were 4, 5, 15, 32 and 62. The red Powerball stood at 21.
Two lucky players managed to match all white numbers, netting them a prize of $1 million each. According to Powerball, the two winners are from Ohio and Virginia.
The Ohio ticket, for context, was purchased by a Giant Eagle grocery store customer. The ticket was sold in Akron, turning the lucky winner’s grocery trip into a $1 million payday.
In the meantime, a customer in Virginia was also able to correctly match all white numbers, grabbing another $1 million.
None of the two customers had Power Play active. If they did, they would have gotten $2 million instead.
More Players Win Powerball Prizes
Meanwhile, 7 players grabbed $50,000 each after correctly guessing four white numbers and the Powerball. An additional 4 players guessed the same numbers but had Power Play active, taking home $100,000 each instead.
A total of 245 regular players and 80 Power Play players guessed four white numbers correctly, winning $100 each or $200 each, depending on whether they had the feature activated.
As no one won the jackpot, the top prize is expected to swell to $84 million with a cash value of $40.4 million. The next drawing is set to take place today, June 24.
To win the jackpot, players must match all white numbers and the red Powerball correctly. In order to do so, however, they need to beat odds of 1 in 292,201,338.
While the last few drawings have failed to crown a winner, an NSW player just won AUD 40 million from the Australian version of the game.
Winning big can be a life-changing experience. A woman from North Carolina recently won $700,000 after buying a $10 scratch-off ticket. In an interview, the winner said that she was so excited that she felt like she was going to have a heart attack.
