МА Brother and Sister Secure $390K Each from Lucky for Life

If the players had guessed the Lucky Ball correctly, they would have been eligible to claim a top prize of $7,000 a week for life

Two siblings from Massachusetts have both won huge prizes playing the Lucky for Life game. The two chose the same combination and explained that the numbers had significance to their family.

The Brother and Sister Chose the Same Numbers

The brother and sister matched all winning numbers for the August 25 drawing, with the exception of the Lucky Ball. The winning numbers for the drawing, for context, were 8, 17, 19, 29 and 31 with a Lucky Ball of 12.

If the players had guessed the Lucky Ball correctly, they would have been eligible to claim a top prize of $7,000 a week for life. Instead, they won $25,000 a year for life. Both the brother and the sister opted to claim the lump-cash payment instead of the $25,000 a year for life. As a result, each of them took $390,000 before taxes.

The brother bought his winning ticket at the Star Food Mart in Brockton. The sister, on the other hand, purchased her ticket at 7-Eleven in Abington. The stores will receive $5,000 each for selling the winning tickets.

Despite buying the tickets separately, the duo chose the same numbers. They told lottery officials that the combinations they chose were comprised of family birthdays. The brother explained that he plans to put his winnings into savings. His sister, on the other hand, has not decided what to do with her money yet.

Other Recent Lottery Wins

Last month, other players in Massachusetts secured significant prizes. This included one player who won the first-ever Lifetime Millions grand prize. The Lifetime Millions jackpot, for context, consists of $1 million a year for at least 20 years or a lump cash option of $15.4 million. The player opted to take the lump cash option, becoming one of Massachusetts’ newest millionaires.

In more recent news, a player from Michigan won $1 million from Powerball after narrowly missing the $95 million jackpot. As a result, the jackpot continued to grow and will stand at approximately $112 million for the September 7 drawing.

The Mega Millions jackpot likewise went unclaimed as players failed to scoop up the $656 million jackpot. For the next drawing, the prize will reach an estimated $740 million with a lump cash option of $366.3 million.

Elsewhere, an Australian woman secured an AUD 2.5 million prize, which she plans to use to travel to Europe.
