Aussie Lottery Player Wins AU$2.5M, Plans European Getaway

Winning the lottery provides unique excitement and many opportunities for the lucky few. One lottery player from Sydney’s suburb, Ryde, in New South Wales, Australia, is planning an exciting trip to Europe after winning more than a million dollars over the weekend.

The lucky player, whose name was not disclosed, scored one out of a total of eight division one winning entries for Saturday Lotto. The 4499 drawing on Saturday, August 31, 2024, saw a total of four winning entries from Victoria, two from New South Wales, as well as one from Queensland and Western Australia.

The lucky winner from Ryde entered Saturday Lotto’s recent draw by purchasing an entry from The Lott’s application. The 18-game QuickPick entry resulted in the young woman winning the mind-blowing division one prize of AU$2.5 million ($1.68 million). Each of the eight division one entries secured a prize of AU$2.5 million ($1.68 million) from Saturday Lotto’s draw 4499.

For the fiscal year 2024, so far, 158 people in Australia became millionaires after participating in Saturday Lotto. Across the country, a total of 291 division one entries have been awarded with prizes surpassing AU$436 million ($293.3 million).

The Lucky Winner Was Shocked, Said She Plans to Visit Europe

On Monday, the fortunate woman from Ryde was contacted by Lottery officials and notified about the win. “Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Thank you so much! I need to sit down. Wow. I’m in shock,” she shared.

The woman admitted to just getting ready for work when she received the call about the mind-blowing lottery win. While she admitted to planning to go to work, the fortunate winner said that she would likely be distracted the whole day. The young woman also said that she plans to call her partner right away but admitted that he likely won’t believe her.

Asked if she plays the lottery regularly, the woman said that she started participating a couple of months ago. “I always get a QuickPick. I like to just set and forget it,” she admitted.

When asked by Lottery officials what she plans to do with the hefty win, the lottery player said she intends to go on a vacation to Europe. “If I’m honest, I’ve always wanted to travel but never had the opportunity,” she said, hinting that a few weeks or even months off work won’t be an issue for her anymore.
