The Venetian Las Vegas Hit with Lawsuit after Alleged Scorpion Sting
The 62-year-old visitor claims he was stung by a scorpion which caused him significant pain, distress and even impacted his sex life
A visitor to a popular Las Vegas Strip resort claims he was stung by a scorpion and has recently filed a lawsuit, seeking an assessment for his pain. The incident dates back to December 26, 2023, when Michael Farchi, an Angora Hills, California resident visited The Venetian.
The unlucky guest was unpleasantly surprised by a scorpion sting, he claims in his lawsuit filed late last month. The visitor at The Venetian wrote that the hotel “owed a duty of care to Plaintiffs to provide a clean, safe, and sanitary room . . . that was free of vermin, bed bugs, or similar things, including scorpions,” as quoted by 8 News Now.
The painful sting at the 62-year-old man’s private area caused significant distress, physical pain and PTSD, he claimed. Moreover, Farchi argued that after he was allegedly stung by a scorpion at The Venetian, his sex life wasn’t the same.
Brian Virag, one of the lawyers representing Farchi in the case, explained: “I can also indicate, as you saw in the complaint, we’re also making a claim for loss of consortium for Mr. Farchi’s wife.” This otherwise means the victim’s wife admits to their sex life being worse than before the sting.
The 62-year-old man is reportedly seeking a jury trial. He wants a jury to assess the physical pain, mental distress and damages related to past and future medical bills, as well as the detrimental effect on his sex life, among other claims.
A Painful Scorpion Sting Causes Erectile Dysfunction
Just after Christmas last year, Farchi visited The Venetian. While in bed in his hotel room, the 62-year-old guest allegedly felt a sting in his groin area. Farchi compared the pain to a stab by a sharp knife or a glass saying: “I just felt like somebody stabbing me in my private area.”
Immediately, the 62-year-old man got out of bed and went to the restroom. He was then shocked to see a scorpion “hanging” on his underwear. Farchi then took photos of the scorpion that allegedly stung him while at the popular hotel casino resort.
The main complained to hotel staff and informed them that he was bitten by a scorpion on his “groin/testicles.” Farchi alleged that the hotel employees’ response wasn’t kind at all as some were holding their groin area and were laughing at him. He admitted to feeling embarrassed by this treatment.
The 62-year-old hotel guest visited Summerlin Hospital where medics confirmed he was stung by a scorpion, as described in the lawsuit. Farchi also described in the lawsuit that he had undergone treatment at UCLA Medical Center. There, the doctors uncovered that the painful sting caused erectile dysfunction. The guest’s lawyer, Brian Virag, explained that around the time his client visited The Venetian, there were construction works nearby. In the lawsuit, Farchi also claimed that the hotel casino was aware of an “infestation of poisonous, deadly scorpions.”
