Record-Breaking 63 Winners Hit Donghang Lottery Jackpot

The lottery said that each winner will get 419 million won (approximately $302K in USD)

An all-time high number of players have won the Donghang Lottery jackpot, beating the previous record. For reference, 50 winners guessed all lottery numbers correctly in June 2022, marking a historic moment in the lottery’s history. Now, however, the lottery provided prizes to a whopping 63 jackpot winners.

The Korean Lottery Commission confirmed the figure. In the meantime, the Donghang lottery, which operates the lottery drawings, said that 11 of the 63 winners used the auto-pick feature to select the winning numbers. The remaining 52 winners, on the other hand, opted to choose their numbers manually.

As it turns out, five Lotto stores recorded two manual wins each, implying that the same customers might have purchased multiple tickets with identical numbers.

The winning numbers, for context, were 1, 5, 8, 16, 28 and 33.

The lottery said that each winner will get 419 million won (approximately $302K in USD). This represents roughly a quarter of the average Korean Lotto first-place prize, which stands at 2 billion won ($1.45 million).

While fairly low, compared to the usual jackpot, the prize is not the lowest one lottery winners have taken either. In May 2013, for example, 30 winners matched all numbers correctly, taking 409.5 million won ($296K) each.

The lottery also noted that there were 77 second-place winners. These players will get 57.2 million won each (approximately $41,350). In the meantime, 2,987 players tied for third place, taking 1.48 million won ($1,070) each.

Other Recent Jackpot Winners

Elsewhere, a Michigan Lottery player just bagged a $170,000 jackpot after buying tickets for the lottery’s Fantasy 5 game an hour ahead of the daily drawing. The 67-year-old winner was excited about the sum and said that he will use the money to renovate his lake house and retire.

Around the same time, two players in North Carolina won significant prizes. One of them grabbed nearly $250,000, while the other scooped up $100,000.

In Australia, an elderly woman was left speechless after winning an AUD 10 million ($6.8 million) jackpot last week. The winner, whose name was not disclosed, won the division one prize from Powerball’s draw 1469 on Thursday, July 11, 2024. The woman said that she will use the money to pay off her mortgage, pay her bills and buy a new car.
