Queensland Player Left Speechless after AU$10M Powerball Win

An incredibly lucky lottery player from Sarina, Queensland, Australia, won’t have to worry about bills or mortgage after securing a mind-boggling AU$10 million ($6.8 million) jackpot earlier this week.

The winner, whose name was not disclosed, won the division one prize from Powerball’s draw 1469 on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Considering that the woman from Sarina was the sole winner, she will receive the entire AU$10 million ($6.8 million) jackpot.

To win the grand prize from Powerball, the woman matched the winning numbers from the recent draw which were 9, 12, 16, 17, 19, 20, 22 and Powerball number 9. The lucky lottery player bought her ticket from Freechoice Sarina, Shop 6, Sarina Village Shopping Centre on 20 Broad Sarina in Sarina.

When asked by the Lott officials what she plans to do with the jackpot money, the Sarina woman explained that she would pay off her mortgage. Moreover, the grandmother confirmed that she will pay bills and wants to buy a new car, hinting that she likes Toyota or Honda. “I’d love to buy a Honda or Toyota with a bull bar because we really need one where we live,” she said.

“Ten million dollars will really help myself and the family. I’ll be able to pay off my mortgage, heaps of bills and buy a brand-new car,“

The Winner Could’ve Missed the Jackpot

Not unexpectedly, the lucky winner said that she plans to reduce the hours at her current job. Ultimately, she wants to retire and spend more time with her grandchildren. The Queenslander revealed that it was incredibly exciting to be surprised in such a unique way.

The latest win comes after the lucky player almost didn’t buy tickets for the Powerball draw. She admitted that she was about to be late for work which is why she nearly didn’t buy a ticket. This undoubtedly was one of the best decisions in the life of the lucky woman.

“I nearly didn’t buy the ticket because I was in a rush on the way to work but I’m so glad I did. Wow, just wow,“

But that’s not all. When the Lott tried to contact the lucky winner and notify her about the jackpot win, they couldn’t reach her. After a few more calls, the Lottery was still unable to reach the woman.

Once she got a hold of her phone, the woman thought that she received scam calls. However, once listening to a voice message left by a Lottery official, she was shocked to realize that she was the winner of the division one prize from the recent Powerball drawing.
