DraftKings Sportsbook Goes Live in Indiana
Gaming operators in Indiana have been very enthusiastic about the state’s sports betting industry. As soon as the state gaming regulator gave the go-ahead for licensed operators to launch their operations, 3 retail sportsbooks debuted. This was on September 1 which was the official opening day of legal sports in the state. Now, digital sports betting options have started making their way into the market. The most recent debut by DraftKings’s sports betting app in collaboration with Indiana’s Ameristar Casino East Chicago
The mobile sportsbook is part of a lucrative multi-year deal between Penn National Gaming and DFS provider turned sports betting operator. This launch comes after the approval of the operator’s license by the Indiana Gaming Commission. Even though this was a last-minute decision, it is certainly set to bring even more options to sports bettors in the state.
Capitalizing on Mobile Devices
It is anticipated that mobile sportsbooks will be the ultimate champions of Indiana’s sports betting market. In fact, according to a recent report, at least two-thirds of the state’s sports bettors will be using mobile sportsbooks.
To use the mobile sportsbook, the bettors will need to prove that they are at least 21 years old. In addition to that, the app will have geofencing technology to ensure that only people within the state’s borders are able to access its services.
“With Indiana becoming the latest state to offer legalized online and mobile sports betting, we are excited to provide the top-rated sportsbook app to some of the nation’s most passionate and dedicated sports fans,” said Matt Kalish, the co-founder, and chief revenue officer of DraftKings.
For now, registrations have to be done physically at the respective casino facilities. Thankfully, there are plans to allow for online registrations in the near future. DraftKings and its competitors who include Rush Street Interactive are working on allowing their customers to register on their websites and online apps. With more online sports betting options to arrive in the not-so-distant future, sports bettors can look forward to more perks as competition continues to heat up.
Sights Set on Pennsylvania
Now that DraftKings has checked off Indiana in its expansion list, it has its sights set on Pennsylvania. DraftKings has been making preparations to debut a mobile sportsbook in the state in collaboration with The Meadows. The gambling venue’s retail and online gambling operations will, on the other hand, remain under Penn Interactive.
Pennsylvania’s retail and online sports betting markets have been doing great but there is still room for more options. That is, after all, what the bettors are looking forward to. Having more operators means more competition and therefore better features and very competitive odds.
