Svenska Spel Publishes Q2 Healthy Revenue Report
Svenska Spel added that the percentage of healthy revenue of based on risk models using the company’s proprietary tool, Playscan
Svenska Spel a state-owned company in Sweden, has published its healthy revenue report for Q2 2024, detailing an increased share of revenue from low-risk consumers. The operator reiterated its commitment to responsible gambling, promising to minimize the money it takes from high-risk players.
Svenska Spel’s Healthy Revenue Share Increased in Q2
In Q2 2024, Svenska Spel generated a total net gaming revenue of SEK 1.87 billion. The company noted that 93.2% of this revenue came from low-risk consumers who gamble responsibly. This figure, for context, marks a quarter-on-quarter increase from 92.2% in Q1.
Anna Johnson, the operator’s chief executive officer, attributed the increase to the company’s continued effort to minimize revenue from customers who play in a way that can lead to gambling problems.
That’s why we work purposefully so that our customers are aware and don’t play for more than they can afford.
Anna Johnson, CEO, Svenska Spel
Svenska Spel noted that all serious gambling companies must recognize the importance of sustainability and limit the number of players who get into trouble. To that end, Svenska Spel vowed to continue publishing reports on its share of healthy revenue.
The Compamy Urged Operators to Publish Similar Reports
Svenska Spel added that the percentage of healthy revenue is based on risk models using the company’s proprietary tool, Playscan. The models have been developed in partnership with Sustainable Interaction, an independent responsible gambling specialist. Playscan, according to Svenska Spel, categorizes consumers based on their gambling habits and patterns.
Svenska Spel’s head of responsible gambling, Mikael Franzén, commented on the matter, saying that his team seeks to identify riskier betting patterns before they become a gambling problem. The company is assured that early intervention and personal contact could help many people get their habits under control.
In the extreme, we introduce gambling restrictions or block customers completely from our games.
Mikael Franzén, head of responsible gambling, Svenska Spel
CEO Johnson, meanwhile, said that she hopes more companies start publishing similar sustainability reports.
Speaking of Sweden, BOS, the Swedish Trade Association for Online Gambling, recently commented on the mulled closure of the last Casino Cosmopol property. While the BOS agreed that governments should not run casinos, it noted that this move would effectively end land-based gambling in Sweden.
Because of that, the association asked the government to consider allowing commercial operators to open casinos.
