The war in Ukraine continues to take its toll on the industry. Playson, a leading game developer for the regulated gambling industry, announced that its product owner has perished in the fighting.

Oleksandr Honcharuk worked as a product owner at Playson for over two years. The talented industry specialist joined the company in 2020 and has since helped it roll out exceptional products.
Honcharuk had over a decade of experience in the gambling industry and had served some of the most notable studios. His experience included two years as the art director and art manager of Playtika. Furthermore, Honcharuk worked for a year and a half as the art director and art director supervisor of Net Entertainment. After that, the young developer became a game producer and studio manager at Playtech, where he remained until December 2016.
One of Honcharuk’s latest jobs was a year-long stint as the games director and product owner of Techona. Before joining Playson, Honcharuk worked as a self-employed casino games consultant for over two years.
Overall, Honcharuk contributed a lot to the industry through his tenures at various companies in the gambling sector. Sadly, his contributions Russia’s invasion of Ukraine cut his contributions short.

With great sadness, Playson announced that Honcharuk has perished in Ukraine. According to the statement, he was one of the countless volunteers who joined the efforts to protect their country. Many people in the gambling industry joined the war on disinformation, provided humanitarian aid to struggling people or joined the armed forces.
The company described Honcharuk as a cheerful, witty, kind, honest and smart person. Because of that, the studio will miss the outstanding worker and great friend that he was.
While his creativity and enthusiasm played a crucial role in the development of Playson’s recent top-performing games, his loss will also be felt throughout the wider industry, having worked across many companies during an iGaming career spanning more than 14 years.
Playson
