Oakland Athletics File Permit for Future Stadium Development
Making another major step toward achieving its goal, the team filed a land use permit with Clark County

The Oakland Athletics, the famous Major League Baseball (MLB) team that plans to relocate to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the 2028 season, is one step closer to achieving its goal. The team only recently filed a land use permit, uncovering interesting details regarding the new ballpark that they will soon call home.
The A’s File Land Use Permit with Clark County
It was back in October when the A’s submitted documents the county requires for the building of the new stadium. Then, a month later, an application with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was filed by the team, which marks another requirement for the massive project. Then, in December, the Las Vegas Stadium Authority granted the Athletics with approval to start the construction of the ballpark, which would use the site of the Tropicana.
Now, as announced by KTNV, the Athletics completed another step toward making their project a reality by filing the required permit for land use with Clark County. The application was accompanied by renderings of the ballpark which is expected to accommodate 33,000 seats.
The project has a mind-blowing price tag of nearly $2 billion. While the entire site is a total of 35 acres, the new ballpark would use approximately 9 acres of that land. On the other hand, 14.7 acres of land on site would be used by Bally’s Corporation for its new luxury hotel and casino resort. Per the land use permit application, the remaining space on site would be used for parking, as well as restaurants, bars and other fast-food options.
Project Raises Parking Concerns
As noted, besides a new ballpark for fans of baseball, the massive project will bring a new hotel and casino resort. Located on the same 35-acre lot, Bally’s new resort will deliver luxury hotel accommodation, a casino with 90,000 square feet, as well as a range of restaurants, beverage and retail outlets.
The start of the construction of Bally’s hotel and casino resort is expected to coincide with phase one of the development of the ballpark. Once completed, the operator’s casino will feature 75 table games, a sportsbook, a poker room, as well as 1,500 slot machines, documents obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal suggest. More than 3,000 hotel rooms are expected to accommodate MLB fans and visitors to Sin City.
One concern regarding the future ballpark is related to how it would affect traffic and whether or not there would be enough parking spaces. Under the County’s existing regulations, considering that 1 parking space is required per 4 seats, this means that based on the capacity of the ballpark, more than 7,000 spaces would be required.
However, the recently filed request offers nearly 2,500 parking spaces, a figure that includes guest parking spaces and 100 office staff parking spaces. Developers of the project consider this to be sufficient, considering the close proximity of the ballpark to other resorts and transportation options nearby.
