NY Gambling Regulator Adds Members to Gaming Facility Location Board
Greg Reimers and Marion Phillips III joined the New York Gaming Facility Location Board as its latest members

Major gaming and hospitality operators are looking forward to securing one out of three New York downstate casino licenses. While efforts to speed up the process have so far failed, a couple of fresh appointments announced by the New York State Gaming Commission may signal another push to expedite the process.
New York Gaming Facility Location Board Grows to Five Members
On Monday, the Commission confirmed the unanimous appointment of Greg Reimers and Marion Phillips III as members of the authority in charge of commercial casino gambling in the New York Metro area, the New York Gaming Facility Location Board. Joining the Board, the duo will rub shoulders with Stuart Rabinowitz, Carlos Naudon, as well as chair Vicki Been.
The aforementioned authority plays a key role in the awarding of the much-wanted casino licenses in downstate New York. The Boad’s responsibilities include reviewing and evaluating casino applications. Ultimately, the authority can recommend up to three operators for a casino license.
“The New York State Gaming Commission today unanimously appointed Marion Phillips, III and Greg Reimers as members of the New York Gaming Facility Location Board, which is overseeing the commercial casino siting process in the New York Metro region,“

The Duo Make an Excellent Addition to the Board
Undoubtedly, Reimers is an excellent pick for the Board, considering his extensive experience holding executive level roles. It was back in 1983 when he graduated bachelor’s in economics at Villanova University. Throughout his career, Reimers held important senior-level roles, including executive vice president at The Bank of New York. Most recently, he held the role of managing director and market manager at JPMorgan Chase.
On the other hand, Phillips is also a great addition to the Board, as he brings a range of skills accumulated through years of hard work. He holds a bachelor of science degree in mass communications from Lamar University, as well as a master of divinity from the New York Theological Seminary.
Currently, Phillips serves as US News & World Report’s senior vice president for community development and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Before that senior-level role, he was New York State’s Empire State Development’s SPV of community relations.
“We are proud to appoint these consummate professionals to the Gaming Facility Location Board.“
Brian O’Dwyer, chair of the New York State Gaming Commission
Brian O’Dwyer, the New York State Gaming Commission’s chair, revealed that it is exciting to see experts of such rank join the New York Gaming Facility Location Board. “The Board’s important work of selecting up to three casino proposals will have a lasting impact on our state and Mr. Phillips and Mr. Reimers have the expertise and experience to conduct thorough evaluations of the projects,” he added. Finally, O’Dwyer thanked the entire Board for their hard work and dedication.
