Nevada Casinos Report Solid Results for December and 2024
While the gaming win reported by Las Vegas Strip operators dipped by 3% in December, good performance in other regions and counties contributed to an overall increase

The last 12 months marked another strong period for casinos in Nevada, newly released financial data reveals. On Thursday, the state’s gambling regulator, the Nevada Gaming Control Board, released financial details regarding the performance of casinos across the state in December and the full year 2024.
Year-over-Year Gaming in December Records an Uptick
Focusing on the results from December, last month was a busy period for casinos across the state. Overall, licensed operators reported $1.46 billion in gaming win last month. The result represented a slight increase of 2% when compared to the $1.43 billion reported for the corresponding period in 2023.
On the other hand, fiscal year-to-date results, encompassing the period between July 2024 and December 2024, pointed to a slight decrease in the reported revenue. For the fiscal year-to-date in 2023, non-restricted gaming licenses across the state reported $8.0 billion in gaming win, a result that was 1.98% higher when compared to the $7.8 billion figure for the same period in 2024.
LV Strip Revenue Dips, Other Regions and Counties Help Offset the Result
Traditionally, Clark County, the home of Las Vegas, reports the highest gaming win out of all counties across the state. Clark County’s gaming win in December hit $1.29 billion, a result that was 1.46% higher when compared to the $1.27 billion result from December the previous year.
However, based on the recent results, it wasn’t the Las Vegas Strip that contributed to the overall uptick in the gaming win in December. This is because Strip revenue halted at $881.2 million, 2.66% below the figure recorded in December 2023.
In contrast, Boulder Strip operators reported nearly a 30% increase in their revenues to $87.8 million during last month. Laughlin-based gaming licensees also posted strong results of $34.5 million, a figure representing 9.39% increase.
Solid results were also reported by Washoe County operators. Overall, the gaming win reported by operators across the county in December hit $90 million, signaling a nearly 12% increase year-over-year. South Lake Tahoe licensees enjoyed a strong December too reporting a gaming win of $19.4 million, marking 20.33% year-over-year increase.
Collected Taxes in December Increase, 2024 Gaming Win Up by Less than 1%
Additional details released by the NGCB reveal that the state collected $90.5 million in taxes for December. This figure represented an exceptional 6.56% increase, considering that in December 2023, tax collections halted at $84.9 million.
As noted, the NGCB also released details regarding the total gaming win reported by non-restricted gambling licensees across the state for 2024. Per this data, the gaming win hit $15.6 billion for the 12 months ended December 31, 2024. A year-over-year comparison pointed to an increase of less than 1% or 0.55% to be exact.
