Collin Morikawa Teams Up with Las Vegas Sands to Boost Community Engagement

Collin Morikawa, a professional golfer who has won six PGA Tour titles, is joining hands with the Las Vegas Sands Corp. in a partnership designed to improve community programs and bolster the company’s resorts. 

Morikawa and Las Vegas Sands to Foster Resilient Communities and Develop Young Golfers

This partnership will have Morikawa involved in different projects that focus on youth development as well as community revitalization aligned with Sands’ commitment to building resilient communities.

Las Vegas Sands will kick off this collaboration by donating $100,000 towards the restoration of Maggie Hathaway Golf Course in Los Angeles. As an LA native and honorary chairman of the FORE Youth: The 2023 U.S.

Open Community Legacy Campaign, Morikawa has been a vocal advocate for the project. The restoration seeks to revive the nine-hole par-3 course which is also equipped with facilities so that it can be used as a center for junior golf development besides ensuring its viability over time.

Morikawa will work alongside Sands in carrying out golf clinics meant to foster youth development through leadership skills enhancement. He has been part of similar undertakings before like Sands Youth Golf Clinic in Macao and also the Sands Cares Youth Empowerment Initiative based in Long Island New York while still eyeing a Downstate New York gaming license where they hope to establish an integrated resort.

Comprehensive Community Rejuvenation Programs Will Be Part of the Collaboration

Commenting on the collaboration Morikawa said: “I’ve had the opportunity to work with Sands in New York and Macao, and we are very much aligned in our commitment to leverage the sport of golf to advance youth development and build leadership skills. But I’m just as excited that we share a vision for creating strong communities by addressing areas that need the infusion of resources we can bring to the table. Working together, we will create many opportunities for our joint community priorities.”

The two parties have previously come together on various community schemes such as relief efforts during Hawaii wildfires last year among others but this new phase in their partnership does not stop at clinics because there are plans between Collin Morikawa and Las Vegas Sands around more holistic rejuvenation programs within different localities.

Sands chairman and CEO Robert G. Goldstein echoed Morikawa’s sentiment: “Collin is an outstanding partner for us on many fronts, first and foremost because of his leadership both on and off the course. Between our mutual home of Las Vegas and shared Asia roots, we intend to create a host of opportunities to advance the priorities and causes that are equally important to us.”
