New EPL Season, New Chelsea

Chelsea has a new coach Enzo Maresca who will make his EPL debut on August 18 when his team takes on Manchester City. He’s a former Leicester City manager who led the Foxes on their journey back to the Prem.

Maresca replaced Mauricio Pochettino on Chelsea’s bench, who led this team last season. With him at the helm, the Blues finished 6^th in the standings, which wasn’t good enough for the club management.

Chelsea’s owner Todd Boehly has huge ambitions for this project, which is why he’s spent over a billion dollars on transfers since buying the club from Roman Abramovich two years ago. This summer, Boehly’s club spent hundreds of millions of dollars to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves, Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester, and many others.

For them, the new campaign has already started. A few days ago, the Cityzens played against their city rivals, Manchester United, in the 2024 Community Shield. It was a somewhat dull game, which finished 1:1 in the regular 90 minutes, after which the winner was decided by a penalty shootout.

Man City did better on penalties, but overall, they cannot be too pleased with their performance. In fact, they will have to up their game if they want to beat Chelsea on Sunday.

However, the August 18 game is played on their turf, so their players are bound to go far and beyond to get a win. It won’t be easy, but we think they can pull it off.
