AGA: Americans Trust the Gaming Industry’s Responsibility Commitments
The association highlighted that this confidence is even stronger among those who engage with the industry directly

The American Gaming Association (AGA) published a new study on Americans’ attitudes toward the casino and betting sectors. According to the association, more and more citizens of the USA are “embracing casino gaming and sports betting as acceptable forms of entertainment and responsible industries.”
The Americans Trust the Casino Industry
The new data comes ahead of Responsible Gaming Education Month this September, as well as ahead of the highly bet-on NFL season.
The AGA learned that approximately 75% of Americans believe that the gaming industry is responsible to the communities where it operates. Additionally, 90% of Americans view sports betting as an acceptable form of entertainment. Another 75%, the AGA learned, support legal sports betting in their home state.
This study highlights a consistent increase in favorable views toward the gaming industry and its commitments to responsible gaming. The AGA noted that 65% of Americans now say that the gaming industry is committed to encouraging responsible gaming and combating problem gaming. This figure notably marks a 10% increase from 55% in 2023.
The association highlighted that this confidence is even stronger among those who engage with the industry directly. As it turns out, 81% of physical casino players and 88% of sports bettors agree that the industry is behaving responsibly.
Joe Maloney, AGA’s senior vice president of strategic communications, said that the results of the latest survey represent a “consistent trend.”
As gaming expands to new audiences, Americans increasingly see the benefits of a legal, regulated gaming marketplace that contributes to communities, prioritizes responsibility and provides unmatched entertainment.

Why Are Americans So Confident in the Industry?
The AGA highlighted a number of factors that have prompted Americans’ trust in the casino and betting sectors. These include:
- Responsible Marketing and Advertising: According to the AGA, people in the USA are aware of the industry’s efforts to market responsibly. The study showed that 65% of respondents believe the industry is truthful in its marketing, up from 58% in 2023. In addition, 73% view the industry as responsible in its advertising.
- Effectiveness of Responsible Gaming Programs: The AGA learned that 66% of Americans believe in the efficiency of the industry’s responsible gaming programs. Additionally, 79% of physical casino goers and 85% of sports betters agree that the programs are effective.
- Increased Awareness of Responsible Gaming Messages: In addition, an increasing number of players are seeing responsible gambling messaging. According to the survey, 66% of all Americans have encountered responsible gaming messages, up from 56% in 2022.
- Familiarity with Responsible Gaming Resources: Lastly, the AGA understood that 76% of Americans are familiar with at least one responsible gaming resource. Awareness is very high among actual gamblers as 92% of land-based players and 96% of sports bettors are familiar with at least one responsible gaming resource.
