The Star to Close Treasury Brisbane ahead of Queens Wharf’s Opening
As The Star prepares to open its Queens Wharf Brisbane property, it has been advised by the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulations to cease the operation of its Treasury Brisbane Casino
The Star Entertainment Group Limited announced the closure of its Treasury Brisbane Casino property ahead of the launch of its new property in Brisbane.
Treasury Brisbane Casino to Close
As The Star prepares to open its Queens Wharf Brisbane property, it has been advised by the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulations to cease the operation of its Treasury Brisbane Casino. According to an official ASX announcement, the regulator asked The Star to shut down Treasury Brisbane at midnight on August 25, 2024.
The closing, The Star confirmed, is in line with the preparations ahead of the opening of Queens Wharf Brisbane, subject to final regulatory approvals.
The Star Prepares for the Opening of Queens Wharf Brisbane
The Star is set to open its new property in the city in a week, marking a new chapter for its local business. Set to open on Thursday, August 29, the new property will offer unparalleled experiences.
The Star has prepared to dazzle its inaugural guests with exciting promotions and experiences. In addition, the company just announced that its new world-class casino will be “illuminated with the glittering unveiling of homegrown, internationally revered artist Lindy Lee’s masterpiece, ‘Being Swallowed by the Milky Way.’”
Being Swallowed by the Milky Way, The Star clarified, is an 8-meter, 8,000-kilogram oblong sculpture that features a whopping 25,000 tiny holes giving it the appearance of a light-filled galaxy of silver and gold stars.
The Star will also install other pieces of art ahead of the opening and is preparing to host a multitude of events at its Event Center to celebrate Phase 1 of Queens Wharf’s opening.
Queens Wharf Brisbane will cement the city’s reputation as a world-class cultural destination, The Star concluded.
The Star Continues to Struggle with Compliance Issues
In the meantime, The Star’s Sydney business continues to struggle with the application of its remediation plan. The business was found unsuitable to hold a license in New South Wales, prompting it to make multiple leadership changes and apply new policies.
However, the recent extension of the tenure of Star Sydney’s special manager seems to suggest that the company isn’t quite ready yet. As it turns out, the casino’s remediation process has proven to be a challenging matter.
In the meantime, The Star prepares to publish its FY financials on August 30.
