Jewish Vegas Hotel Project Secures Approval to Move Forward
Both proponents and opponents of the KDH Hotel agreed that the developers of this Jewish-oriented property are going to have serious challenges both during the construction and after that
The King David Hotel (now known as the KDH Hotel) has inched closer to becoming a reality. While this planned Las Vegas property does not plan to offer gaming, it will provide Jewish visitors with a comfortable place to stay in Sin City.
The Hotel Moves on to the Next Phase of Approvals
While the KDH Hotel has previously encountered certain difficulties and pushback from nearby properties, it has now been recommended for approval by the Paradise Town Advisory Board. With 3 votes in favor of the hotel and only one vote against, the board allowed the hotel to move to the next phase of approvals. The Clark County Commission is set to review the Paradise Town Advisory Board’s recommendation on January 8.
In any case, that would not be the whole of it as the KDH Hotel developers will have to first complete studies on traffic and drainage in order to have their new property approved. In addition to that, they will need to contact the Federal Aviation Administration to approve the building’s height.
Speaking of height, the new property, if approved, would stand some 684 feet tall (approximately 208 meters). It would have 486 guest rooms and would also boast a synagogue on levels 47 and 48. As a property targeting the Jewish community, the KDH Hotel will also sport multiple restaurants that offer kosher meals to its guests. The hotel would also have a pool on level 13 and a lobby on the level above it. Hotel rooms would occupy levels 16-42.
There Are Significant Traffic Concerns
However, considering that the new property would be limited to a 0.6-acre (approximately 2,500 square meters) parcel, there were those concerned about the effect it would have on traffic. This was a primary concern of both the single Paradise Town Advisory Board member who voted against the project, and Treasure Island another property in the vicinity.
Treasure Island’s leadership believes that the new hotel could lead to traffic congestion because of all the necessary deliveries associated with such a property’s operation. Another problem would be the tight space which would make the construction of the building a challenging endeavor.
Both proponents and opponents of the KDH Hotel agreed that the developers of this Jewish-oriented property are going to have serious challenges both during the construction and after that. Many believe that the tight space and the limited parking spots are a recipe for difficulties.
Since the closest synagogue is four miles away and there are no kosher restaurants in the area, the property is likely to attract a strong influx of visitors.
If approved, the KDH Hotel will be constructed on 3601 Vegas Plaza Drive.
