They’re in the middle of the Eastern Conference table right now and even their biggest fans don’t really believe they can win the 2024 MLS Cup. It’s just that their roster does not look great. These guys cannot win the MLS, but they might go far in the Leagues Cup. The bad news for them is that in the first game of the knockout stage, they’re taking on the No. 1 favorite to win the trophy, Inter Miami.

Inter Miami Going for Their Second Leagues Cup

Inter Miami is the defending champ of the Leagues Cup, but this team’s title defense campaign hasn’t been too impressive. They did beat Puebla 2:0 in the first round, but in the second round, they lost 2:1 to UANL Tigres.

In the game with Tigres, they created plenty of chances but couldn’t find the net from pay. In fact, their only goal happened through a penalty shot. The reason behind this is that their best player Lionel Messi was out with an injury.

He probably won’t start the August 8 game either, but if his team needs him, he’ll be there to get into action from the bench. Still, even without him, the Herons look more than capable of beating Toronto FC. This goes especially for the fact that the game is played on their turf, which is where they’ve got nothing but wins over this opponent.
