The NCAAF odds suggest the Buckeyes (9-1) are ought to win on November 23, with the Indiana vs. Ohio State point spread being 13 points in favor of the hosts. The main reason why the Buckeyes are such huge favorites is that they’re the No. 1 ranked team in the nation.

Still, given that the Indiana Hoosiers (10-0) are 5th in the rankings, we suspect that they might be able to avoid a blowout loss. But do they have what it takes to cause a serious upset at Ohio Stadium?

Can the Indiana Hoosiers Beat the Buckeyes for the First Time Since 1988?

The Indiana-Ohio State football history teaches us that the Buckeyes have been dominating this fixture for decades. They’re 80-12-5 against the Hoosiers, with their most recent loss happening back in 1988.

So, the big question is whether the 2024 Indiana team can end the win drought. Judging by the college football odds, the answer is no. In fact, the point spread suggests that Indiana is going to get blown out by Ohio State on Saturday.

One reason why we think that scenario isn’t too likely to happen is that the Hoosiers have been playing great football in 2024. With the third-best scoring offense in the nation (40.2 points per game) and a defense allowing just 15 points per game – close to Ohio State’s elite defensive numbers – the Hoosiers bring a new level of competitiveness.

On top of that, their starting quarterback Kurtis Rourke, who struggled with a finger injury earlier this season, is reportedly 100% fit, with no pain, after a successful surgery. With him at his best, the Hoosiers have every right to hope for a good result on November 23.

Ohio State Buckeyes to Exploit Indiana’s Defensive Holes

Let’s not sugarcoat it: Ohio State is an NCAAF powerhouse. Their senior quarterback Will Howard has been incredibly efficient in 2024, throwing for just under 2,500 yards and 24 touchdowns this season.

But it’s wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Emeka Egbuka who are the real game-changers. These guys have collected 17 touchdowns between them so far. We think that against Indiana’s struggling secondary, they’re poised for another huge game.

Even the weather is going in these guys’ favor. With temperatures expected in the mid-40s and minimal wind, ideal for Ohio State’s potent passing attack. And what about their ground game?

Running backs Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson are two other dangerous weapons in the Buckeyes’ arsenal. These guys are averaging over 6.0 yards per carry.

Indiana Hoosiers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Prediction

Sure, the Buckeyes are the best college football team in 2024 – it’s a fact! But the Hoosiers are excellent as well.

They’re also in great form with a 10-0 record this season and most of their key men are fit and ready to give their utmost on Saturday. Add in an extra week of preparation for the big game, and the stage is set for a closer battle than usual.

Although we’re not 100% convinced the Hoosiers can win, we’re confident they won’t lose by more than 13 points.

Pick: Indiana Hoosiers +13
