Hidden Camera Discovered in Las Vegas Starbucks, Man Arrested
While the man posted bond and was released, he is facing charges of capturing image of private area and is due to appear in court in February

A man suspected of placing a hidden camera in a restroom inside a Starbucks in Las Vegas was recently detained.
Disturbing Accident at Starbucks
The incident involved a person identified with the initials R.H., who is suspected of placing a mobile phone with a camera in a vent pointing at a toilet. As announced by KLAS, officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) responded to a report about the accident on Monday at the Starbucks on Spring Mountain Road near Valley View Boulevard. The venue in question is in close vicinity of popular hotel and casino resorts, including Rio Hotel and Casino, as well as Encore Las Vegas, among others.
Employees of the coffeehouse told law enforcement that they found a hidden camera in one of the restrooms. Arriving on site and inspecting the premises, police found a phone inside of an air vent. The smartphone with the camera was positioned in a way that pointed directly downward at a toilet where it would be able to film a person using it.
The suspect was quickly identified as R.H., one of the visitors of the Starbucks outlet, who according to workers there visited the restroom nearly ten times after purchasing a coffee. A spokesperson explained: “This is a deeply disturbing incident, and we are grateful for the quick and thorough response from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.”
In addition, the venue’s spokesperson pointed out: “We cannot overstate the importance of providing a safe environment for our customers and partners (employees). We will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement on this matter.”
The Suspect Will Appear in Court in February
When the suspect was questioned by law enforcement, he claimed that due to medication he needed to use the toilet a lot. However, before the arrival of law enforcement, one female employee who entered the restroom in question saw prints from shoes on the toilet seat. This prompted the employee to look around the area and she was able to see the phone camera in the air vent, pointing directly at the toilet.
According to law enforcement, the “camera lenses were pointed directly down toward the toilet where it would be able to capture the private area of another person as they used the restroom.” Besides questioning the suspect, police compared the shoe prints that matched the ones found on the toilet seat in the restroom.
After his arrest, the suspect is now facing charges of capturing, distributing or displaying an image of a private area. While R.H. posted his bail and was released from custody, he is expected to appear in court for a hearing next month.
Under Nevada’s laws, capturing image of private area of another person is recognized as a gross misdemeanor. A person found guilty for the first time on such offense may be sentenced to up to 364 days in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,000.
Subsequent violations are classified as a category E felony and may be subject to more prison time and bigger fines. In the cases where the victim is under the age of 18, a person can face charges of producing child pornography which is a category A felony that may be punished with life imprisonment with parole.
