Gordon Moody, an organization dedicated to helping people tackle gambling-related harm, has officially opened its new treatment center in Redditch, Worcestershire.

The New Center Offers Hope to Harmed Individuals

The so-called Gordon Moody House held its official opening ceremony on November 25, in line with the association’s previous announcement. The opening ceremony attracted many stakeholders and alumni, including the former soccer star Steve Bull.

The new residential treatment center in Redditch will offer a safe space for those harmed by gambling seeking recovery and rehabilitation. It will provide multiple tailored programs and therapies that will target the underlying causes of gambling-related harms and help people “rebuild their lives.”

According to Gordon Moody, the opening of the new center reflects the company’s “continued commitment to providing support services for individuals suffering from severe gambling-related harms.” It will bolster the company’s ability to provide evidence-led treatment to people suffering from addiction while solidifying the association’s position as a leader in recovery.

Representatives Were Excited About the Opening

At the opening, a variety of gambling harm experts and alumni talked about problem gambling and the dangers it poses to the players. Monica Shafaq, chief executive officer of Gordon Moody, called the opening a “significant milestone” for the association. According to her, it embodies Gordon Moody’s desire to remain ahead of the curve when it comes to gambling addiction treatment and providing support to those who need it.

David Hollingsworth, who chaired an alumni panel, called the opening of the new center an “exciting time for all Gordon Moody colleagues.” He added that he was happy to chair the alumni panel and feature people who have previously received treatment.

It gave our guests an insight into life through the years at Gordon Moody and we heard how important surroundings are as a platform for recovery.

Lisa Hartland, training services manager at Gordon Moody, provided a sneak peek at the new Gambling Support First Aid Training, which will teach people to recognize the early signs of harm.

Most People Complete Their Programs and Show Improvement

In the meantime, clinical director Rosalind Baker-Frampton had a presentation about the outcomes of Gordon Moody’s program. She noted that in 2023-2024, the company had 971 applications for treatment and accepted 408 people into its programs. She added that 84% of people completed their residential treatment programs, while 71% completed their retreat & counseling programs.

The majority of those who completed their programs experienced significant improvement.
