Francis Ngannou vs. Renan Ferreira Odds, Time, and Prediction
Legendary heavyweight Francis Ngannou is back in the MMA cage after almost three years to fight Renan Ferreira for the PFL title on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at The Mayadeen in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Francis Ngannou vs. Renan Ferreira is the headliner fight of PFL Super Fights: Battle of the Giants, which is arguably the biggest event ever produced by the Professional Fighting League (PFL).
The promotion is paying more than $10 million to Ngannou, which is more than triple what Conor McGregor got from the UFC for the fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, which remains the most-watched MMA fight in history with 2.4 million pay-per-view buys.
The reason why PFL are splashing out so much cash is that they want to see such a huge martial arts legend as Ngannou back in action. His return to the world of MMA is on Saturday, but will it be a successful one?

Francis Ngannou is Back!
Francis Ngannou (17-3) is coming back to MMA for the first time since defending the UFC Heavyweight title against Cyril Gane in January 2022. He won the title a year earlier by beating Stipe Miocic by KO.
Before that, he had four straight wins by either KO or TKO, beating such heavyweight legends as Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Junior dos Santos, Cain Velasquez, and Curtis Blaydes.
There were rumors that he was going to defend his title against Jon Jones, but that bout never came through. Jones did move to the heavyweight division, but that happened after Ngannou moved to the PFL.
Although he switched his allegiance to the PFL two years ago, he’s going to make his promotional debut on October 19, 2024. This, however, doesn’t mean he’s got ring rust as he did fight two boxing bouts in the meantime.
Unfortunately for him, he lost both of those. The last one saw him get put to sleep by Anthony Joshua. However, in his first-ever boxing bout, he gave real war to Tyson Fury, landing more power shots than The Gypsy King, but still ending up losing by a split decision.
Can the 6’7 Giant Stun Ngannou?
Ngannou’s opponent for the PFL title is Renan Ferreira (13-3-3), a 6’7 giant from Brazil. Same as Ngannou, he too is a hell of a striker. Eleven of this guy’s 13 career wins happened by KO/TKO, including each of his last six wins.
His arguably biggest win happened earlier this year in the first-ever PFL Champion vs. Bellator Champions event. He defeated the Bellator champ Ryan Bader by a TKO after only 20 seconds.
When it comes to his losses, the most recent happened in the PFL Heavyweight Semifinal in 2022, which saw him lose by a TKO to Ante Delija. It was Ferreira’s first loss by this method. He also has one loss by disqualification for landing illegal punches.
Ferreira also has one loss by submission, although it should’ve been two actually. Back in 2021, he tapped out to Werdum, but it wasn’t noticed by the referee, so the fight continued and he won it by a TKO.
Francis Ngannou vs. Renan Ferreira Prediction
Renan Ferreira is the No. 2 best heavyweight in the PFL in our opinion. Guess who’s the No.1? It’s Francis Ngannou, who actually might be the best heavyweight in the whole world. And we’re certain he’s going to prove it on October 19.
Pick: Francis Ngannou
