Conor McGregor’s Euro 2024 Bet Turns Into $1.1M Birthday Gift

If Spain had scored another goal, the famous UFC athlete would have won another $2.7 million

Irish MMA and boxing professional Conor McGregor has won a huge bet after successfully predicting that Spain will win the European Football Championship 2024. The wager was placed before the tournament had even started and netted the UFC star some EUR 1 million (approximately $1.1 million).

Spain for context, just won the Euro 2024 final by defeating England with a 2-1 scoreline. This is notably Spain’s fourth victory in the history of the championship. The last time the Spanish won the event was in 2012 when they faced off against Italy, winning by a landslide.

As for McGregor, the athlete celebrated the occasion on X and shared a screenshot of his original bet. He also pointed out that his win came just in time for his birthday providing him with an amazing birthday gift.

For context, the wager was placed with Duelbits, a wagering platform McGregor is partnering with. The bet size stood at approximately $91,000 at boosted odds of +1100.

McGregor had also wagered another $110,000 on Spain winning the final 3-1 at odds of +2500. If Spain had scored another goal, the UFC athlete would have been in for a $2.7 million payday.

While McGregor failed to capitalize on Spain’s score, he won an additional $695K thanks to his wager on Argentina to defeat Colombia 1-0 in extra time. With some extra $1.8 million in his pocket, the UFC athlete will definitely enjoy a memorable birthday.

McGregor’s Recent Forged Irish Stout Ad Violated ASAI’s Rules

In other news, a social media advert for Conor McGregor‘s Forged Irish Stout was recently scrutinized over-sexualized content. After being evaluated by the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASAI), the ad was found to violate Ireland’s advertising rules.

For context, the Instagram ad featured sexually suggestive female models wearing “cropped tops and high-leg hotpants” while drinking pints of the famous stout and striking poses next to a car and a person dressed up as a can of Forged Stout.

The ad, according to the complaints, put significant emphasis on the models’ private parts, using suggestive camera angles. The ASAI agreed that the ad objectified women in an irresponsible manner.
