Brits Bet on Metallica for Next Las Vegas Sphere Residency

The OLBG odds show Metallica as the 6:1 betting favorite, implying that the heavy metal band has a chance of approximately 14.3% to announce a series of concerts at the Sphere next

British bettors seem convinced that Metallica will be the performer to host a series of concerts at the famed Las Vegas Sphere. Contrary to a pervasive opinion that Harry Styles would be the next to announce a residency, bettors in the UK are bullish on the classics.

OLBG Fans Trust Metallica to Get the Residency

As mentioned, the general public agrees that the next performer to announce a Las Vegas Sphere residency would be Harry Styles, an English singer, songwriter, and actor. Despite being a household name and a rising pop star, OLBG.com, which describes itself as “the most knowledgeable sports betting community in the world,” seems to have put its trust in Metallica.

The OLBG odds show Metallica as the 6:1 betting favorite. This implies that the heavy metal band has a chance of approximately 14.3% to announce a series of concerts at the Sphere next. Styles, on the other hand, has been losing traction and is currently tied with Tool, another American hard-rock band. Tool and Styles both boast 7:1 odds to become the next Las Vegas residency, or 12.5%.

Styles and Tool are tailed by Gorillaz at 8:1 (11.1%), and Chappel Roan at 9:1 (10%).

Metallica Suggested That a Residency Might Be on the Table

The British star used to be the betting favorite until the start of the year when Metallica suggested that a residency might be on the table.

This happened when heavy music news outlet Metal Hammer interviewed Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, asking him whether his group had been offered a Sphere residency. Trujillo replied that Metal Hammer should ask the band’s drummer, Lars Ulrich instead.

The bassist added:

If we do end up playing the Sphere, I’d say that seed is being planted about now.

Robert Trujillo

Since Trujillo didn’t outright decline that this was the case, bettors became convinced that Metallica would be the next residency. This wouldn’t be the first time the popular group has played in Las Vegas of course, with its most recent performance there being in 2022.

Last year, James Dolan, who runs Sphere Entertainment, ended his partnership with Oak View Group, a firm co-founded by his friend and notable concert promoter Irving Azoff.

Previously, the Sphere was also used by the Democrats to promote Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’ campaign ahead of the presidential election.
