BetRivers Reinvigorates Delaware’s iGaming Sector

The first official results after the operator partnered with the Delaware Lottery revealed a thriving sector and impressive consumer demand, heralding sustained growth

BetRivers, the interactive gaming arm of Rush Street Gaming, has significantly impacted Delaware’s iGaming landscape, with its first full month of operation in January recording a remarkable surge in revenue. The Delaware Lottery welcomed BetRivers in August 2023 as its latest iGaming partner, replacing the decade-long association with 888 Holdings and ushering in a new era for the state’s gambling sector.

Online Sports Betting Was a Massive Hit

BetRivers’ debut in Delaware marked its fifth iGaming venture, showcasing its operational prowess and expertise in the online gambling sector. The platform witnessed a substantial increase in new account registrations, with 24,703 sign-ups in January, far surpassing the average monthly registrations under 888’s management, typically less than 1,000.

Revenue numbers reflected this positive trend. December 2023 saw Delaware’s iGaming revenue at $1.16 million. However, after BetRivers took over operations in late December, the state witnessed a staggering 66% increase in online gross gaming revenue (GGR), reaching over $3.4 million in January. These results showcase significant untapped potential and may herald an explosive 2024.

One notable feature of BetRivers’ introduction to Delaware is the inclusion of online sports betting, unavailable during 888’s tenure. The addition of sports betting likely contributed to the surge in new account registrations and heightened activity in January. The operator has the challenge of bolstering player retention, using its impressive launch momentum to consolidate its position.

The Gambling Sector Bolstered State Finances

The strategic collaboration between BetRivers and White Hat Studios, a leading provider of interactive casino games, has played a crucial role in the operator’s success. The expanded iGaming offerings include popular titles like Almighty Buffalo Megaways and Jackpot Royale, contributing to the positive reception from Delaware residents and visitors and setting the stage for further growth.

Regarding revenue distribution, roughly half of the GGR from all forms of online wagering goes to the Delaware General Fund, with the remaining proceeds shared between the casinos and BetRivers. Rush Street Interactive CEO Richard Schwartz thanked the Delaware Lottery team and the state’s three casinos for their collaboration, pledging to elevate the state’s online gaming sector to new heights.

We are honored to… offer consumers in Delaware a safe, convenient, and innovative online entertainment experience.

The successful debut of BetRivers in Delaware highlights the potential for skilled operators to significantly contribute to the growth and revenue of a state’s iGaming industry. However, the Delaware lottery must carefully balance stakeholder interests with gambling harm prevention measures, ensuring the rapid increase in new customers doesn’t lead to a spike in problem gaming.
