Authorities Arrest VIP Gaming Lounge Robber

The attempt to steal money from the gaming lounge was not the man’s only robbery attempt, authorities say

The North Sioux City Police have arrested a man shortly after he tried to rob a gaming lounge in the city. The 29-year-old suspect has been booked at The Woodbury County Jail on Sunday, according to reports.

The Man Attempted to Rob a Casino

Richard Headid, chief of the local police, said that his team had been notified of a masked man who tried to steal money from the VIP Gaming Lounge, a casino property in North Sioux City. The robbery attempt, Headid added, was unsuccessful and the man left without getting any money.

According to the authorities, the man was unarmed. He was arrested soon after that and identified as a man with the initials R.M. He now faces charges of attempted robbery.

However, this wasn’t the culprit’s only robbery attempt.

The Robber Didn’t Stop There

The police believe that R.M. was also involved in the robbery of a gas station in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. The incident took place after the attempted robbery at the VIP Gaming Lounge, and saw the man enter the gas station and threaten the cashier.

The man pretended that he was armed with a handgun and asked the cashier to hand him money. Once he got the cash he made an escape.

A Sergeant Bluff police officer was sent to the gas station but was unable to locate the culprit. However, the authorities were able to identify R.M.’s vehicle thanks to the gas station’s surveillance footage.

Once the description of the vehicle had been sent to the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office, the authorities were able to quickly identify it and locate it.

As it turned out, the vehicle belonged to a Sergeant Bluff business that had been reported stolen. The culprit was allegedly an employee of the business and had not been allowed to use the vehicle, the police added. He is believed to have stolen it on September 20.

As a result, R.M. also faces charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree theft. As of the time of this writing, he is held in the Woodbury County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
