Ohio Man Wins $50K After Playing Lottery Numbers Found on Random Ticket

Sometimes luck can come at the most unexpected time from the most unexpected places. Such was the case with a man from Euclid, Ohio, who won $50,000 by playing the numbers he saw on a random lottery ticket found on the ground.

Random Find on the Floor Turns Into a $50K Win

According to the Ohio Lottery, the man, whose name hasn’t been made public, one day found a Pick 5 ticket on the ground and decided to give those numbers a try. Pick 5 drawings are held daily, seven days a week, but the man didn’t win anything on that day. However, while he didn’t win at the time, he held onto the ticket.

The decision not to throw away the ticket would turn out great, as it led to his eventual win. Sometime after that drawing, the man said that he and his coworkers were feeling lucky on April 28, 2026, so he decided to buy another ticket. Remembering the original ticket in his car’s glove compartment, he asked the clerk to replay the same numbers.

Luckily for him, this time the numbers came through. His combination – 7, 3, 4, 2, 1 – was selected in the evening drawing, earning him a $50,000 prize on a $1 straight bet. The odds of matching all five numbers in exact order are 1 in 100,000, the Ohio Lottery explained.

Other Ohioans Also Win the Lottery in Unexpected Ways

The man who won $50,000 from the numbers of a random ticket found on the ground isn’t the only recent case of someone doing something seemingly ordinary, which then turned out to be extremely lucky.

For example, last month, another man from Ohio became a millionaire after winning $3 million from a Wild Cash Tripler ticket. The catch? The man bought the ticket on a whim after heading out on a quick grocery trip to the store. Had his girlfriend not run out of tomatoes and sent him to the store, would the man have won? There is no way to know for certain.

But a somewhat similar case, where a person does something mundane but ends up winning the lottery, once again happened in Ohio earlier this month. One woman won $1 million after scratching off a winning ticket while simply lying in bed.
