Ohio Woman Scratches Off $1M Lottery Ticket in Bed

A Buckeye woman has won $1 million from the Ohio Lottery after scratching off a winning ticket while lying in bed. The excited winner admitted that she had a hard time believing it was real.

The Woman Screamed, Making Her Dad Worry

The Ohio Lottery announced that a local woman was playing the lottery in bed when she scratched off a lucky Wild Cash Tripler ticket. Surprised, the woman saw that she had won the top prize of $40K a year for 25 years.

After staring at the ticket for a few minutes and letting the fact sink in, she started screaming from excitement. The lucky woman informed her husband and later her dad about the win. Her father had initially interpreted the screaming as a sign of bad news and was very relieved and happily surprised when he heard what the commotion was all about.

The Ohio Lottery said that the woman went with the lump sum option of $500,000 rather than the annuity. After taxes, she was left with $366,250.

In an interview with the lottery, the woman said that she plans to use the money to take her family on a cruise. In addition to that, the extra funds will help her pay off her house.

For context, Wild Cash Tripler is a $30 scratch-off ticket with prizes of up to $3 million. As of May 6, three top prizes were still unclaimed.

Springfield Woman Won $1.8M on Mistake Ticket

The win comes shortly after a Springfield woman bought a $20 EZ Jackpot USA by mistake, only to win a seven-figure jackpot.

In an interview with lottery representatives, she said that she did not want the ticket she bought, but decided to keep it since she had heard of other people winning big on such “mistake tickets.” She soon became one of them as the ticket revealed a prize of $1.8 million.

In the meantime, Powerball recently awarded dozens of seven-figure prizes after an unlikely winning combination matched common player patterns.
