Powerball Crowns Two More Jackpot Winners as Streak Continues
- Two players won the jackpot from the Powerball drawing on May 2
- These included players in Florida and Texas who will share the $20 million prize
- In addition to that, a player in Georgia won a $2 million Match 5 + Power Play prize
Last Wednesday, dozens of Americans became richer after winning seven-figure prizes from Powerball. An unlikely winning combination matched common player patterns, resulting in multiple winners of Match 5 prizes, as well as two jackpot winners.
As a result, the game’s top prize was reset to $20 million. However, the new jackpot did not survive long and was claimed in the very next drawing.
The New Jackpot Was Won Right Away
The Saturday Powerball drawing saw two players independently match all six winning numbers to win the game’s top prize of $20 million (cash value of $9 million). As a result, the two winners, identified as ticket-holders in Florida and Texas, will share the mouth-watering prize.
For context, the winning numbers drawn on May 2 were 25, 37, 42, 52, and 65, plus the red Powerball 14. The Power Play multiplier for the drawing was 3x.
According to Powerball’s announcement, each of the two winners will claim half of the prize. As a result, each may choose between an annuitized prize of $10 million, or a one-time lump sum payment of $4.5 million (before taxes).
The wins kept on piling, as a single player in Georgia matched the five white balls to win the game’s second-tier prize. Thanks to their clever use of Power Play, the player will take home $2 million instead of the usual $1 million.
In the meantime, 10 players matched four white numbers and the Powerball to win prizes of $50,000 each. An additional player matched the same numbers, but won $150,000 thanks to the Power Play feature.
Six Wins Have Happened so Far in 2026
The Saturday win marked the first time since 2021 that two jackpot wins have happened back-to-back.
Powerball noted that a total of five jackpot wins have occurred in 2026. These include the following:
- January 26, 2026 – $209.3 million – North Carolina
- March 2, 2026 – $250.8 million – Arkansas
- April 6, 2026 – $230.8 million – Delaware
- April 29, 2026 – $143 million – Indiana, Kansas
- May 2, 2026 – $20 million – Florida, Texas
The Powerball jackpot has been reset to $20 million for today’s drawing.
In the meantime, the Mega Millions jackpot remains unclaimed and is standing at $195 million.
