Angelo Alberoni Takes Technical Director Role at IBJR

The new technical director brings more than 15 years of experience within the Brazilian gaming and betting sector after holding a number of important roles

In March last year, nine recognizable gambling operators founded the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR). The foundation came at a time when the Latin American country already started to explore options for the legalization of online gambling and sports betting. This process is currently ongoing and Brazilian bettors may be able to place their first wagers at some point next year if everything goes as planned.

Amid the important development of the regulations in the country, IBJR announced a new senior-level appointment. Last week, the Institute confirmed that it hired Angelo Alberoni, an executive with solid experience in the gambling sector. Joining the group, the executive will serve as technical director.

Taking on the role at IBJR, Alberoni will be tasked with overseeing processes closely related to the technical vertical of the sector. As noted, his appointment comes at an important time, considering recent developments for Brazil’s regulatory framework on iGaming and sports betting.

Undoubtedly, Alberoni will make a fine addition to IBJR’s C-suite considering that he brings more than 15 years of experience in the betting sector. This wealth of knowledge is expected to be pivotal for the future of the group and its mission in Brazil.

IBJR’s president and managing partner for Betsson Group in Brazil, Andre Gelfi, welcomed Alberoni to the growing team of experts at the Institute. Via LinkedIn, the executive wrote: “Let’s go together, the game is just beginning.”

Alberoni was just as thrilled to join the group. In response to Gelfi, he wrote: “Let’s get into it.” Finally, the executive said that it will be thrilling to once again work with an expert of Gelfi’s rank.

The New Technical Director Brings a Wealth of Experience

Currently, Alberoni serves as the country manager for Novibet, a leading GameTech company with a presence across the globe. Earlier this month, the company became the latest online sports betting operator to join the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA). The move came ahead of its plans to bid for a license in Brazil.

Besides Novibet, Alberoni’s professional background includes a country manager role with Betsson Group. He held this key role for nine months until March 2023. Before that, he was a country manager for Brazil at Betcris until May 2022, among other important C-suite roles.
