Three Lucky Players Win $1M, Mega Millions Jackpot Survives

The estimated jackpot for Mega Millions’ latest drawing on Friday surpassed the mind-blowing $300 million. To be precise, there was $306 million up for grabs or a $144 million cash option. Yet, nobody matched the winning numbers from Friday’s drawing. On the bright side, three lucky winners matched winning five numbers from the latest drawing, securing $1 million each.

There was one winner from New Jersey, as well as one from Illinois who guessed correctly the winning numbers 2, 14, 33, 58 and 65. The only number that all three players missed out on was the Gold Mega ball number 3.

While one winner from California matched the five winning numbers, their prize wasn’t $1 million. This is because, in California, lottery winnings are based on the number of winners and the total number of tickets sold. This means that the winner secured a prize of approximately $415,000, according to McClatchy News.

The next scheduled drawing for Mega Millions is on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 11 PM ET. The popular American lottery game estimates the jackpot at a staggering $331 million for the upcoming drawing. Cash option is also available which in this case would be $156.2 million.

The odds of winning the grand prize from Mega Millions are always the same, 1 in 302,575,350, while the overall odds are 1 in 24.

Thousands of Lucky Lottery Players Win Prizes

The latest lottery drawing saw no one match the five winning numbers together with a Megaplier option. This option would’ve granted the winner a Megaplier prize of $3 million.

Still, more than a dozen players secured a prize of $10,000 each, while several won a Megaplier prize of $30,000 each. Guessing four white balls together with the Gold Mega ball granted a total of 16 players a prize of $10,000 each. Another four lucky players won a $30,000 Megaplier prize each.

While 405 players matched four winning numbers to secure $500 each, 66 paid extra for the Megaplier option and took home $1,500 each. Nearly 1,100 lucky lottery players matched three white balls along with the Gold Mega ball to win $200 each. Another 253 players won a $600 Megaplier prize each.

Not unexpectedly, the highest number of winners matched only the Gold Mega ball to secure a $2 win each. A total of 479,875 people won such prizes while some 103,155 won a $6 Megaplier prize each.
