Suspicious Loss Followed By Betting Controversy Has Isaac Dulgarian Removed From UFC
The UFC have cut Isaac Dulgarian after a sudden increase in bets right before instant round 1 loss by submission
Following a first-round submission loss by Yadier del Valle, sources have told Uncrowned that Issac Dulgarian had been let go from the UFC.
The rear-naked choke hold, which Dulgarian lost to, has been described by some as suspicious.
Dulgarian had been the favorite to win with a -250, which quickly dropped to -154 when time for the fight neared, which has led to rumors that suggest recent bets might have had an effect on the fight’s outcome.
Both fighters had a spectacular record heading into the fight, Dulgarian with a 7-1 record, having only lost once, while Del Valle came in with a 9-0 track record and left with 10-0.
Michael Chiesa, the UFC commentator and fighter, has shared his thoughts on the fight:
“I’ve got to be honest here, that was an F- performance,”
Chiesa also went on to call the fight “Trash”.
No formal accusations have been made about Dulgarian’s performance, regardless of the rumors.
Dulgarian has made no statement regarding the UFC’s decision to let him go.
Thorough Analysis
There have been speculations that his release from the UFC was due to Michael Chiesa’s analysis of his performance.
Having rewatched the fight, Chiesa has shared his thoughts on Dulgarian’s first-round defeat.
He described Dulgarian, aka The Midwest Choppa, as a “little bit lost” during the fight.
Chiesa believes that the 19-year-old had several opportunities to escape from Del Valle’s chokehold, yet was prompted to use an amateurish move and continued attempting to punch his opponent, who was holding him from behind, with no effect.
Bets Getting Refunded
Many bookmakers have stepped back from this fight, with some even offering refunds.
Examples of this are William Hill US and Ceaser’s Sportsbook, which have both begun to offer compensation on bets for Dulgarian to win the fight.
DraftKings has shared that they are currently keeping an eye on the situation.
Previous Fighters Controversy
Other UFC fighters have previously had accusations related to betting thrown at them.
In 2022, the UFC cut Featherweight Darrick Minner after the detection of suspicious bets, which shifted the odds right before a losing fight.
An investigation had both him and his coach suspended from the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
A 10-month prison sentence was given to South Korean fighter Tae Hyun Bang after it was discovered that he had taken a bribe to lose a fight.
