Powerball Jackpot Grows Closer to $200 Million

With the next drawing for the popular game scheduled on Saturday, the grand prize would be an estimated $172 million or $79.7 million cash option

Many players hoping to win the Powerball jackpot on Wednesday tried their luck. Despite their interest in the grand prize, nobody matched correctly all the winning numbers.

An Estimated $172M Would Be Up for Grabs from Powerball on Saturday

Wednesday’s Powerball drawing saw winning numbers 21, 32, 36, 45, 49 and the red Powerball 18 drawn. The jackpot was estimated at $154 million at the time. As it is usual for jackpots, it also had a cash value which in that case was $71.2 million.

While many lottery players bought tickets in hopes of winning the sweet $154 million jackpot, in the end, nobody matched correctly the drawn numbers. This enabled the grand prize to continue growing, getting closer to the mind-blowing sum of $200 million.

To be precise, on the next Powerball drawing, the grand prize would be an estimated $172 million. The cash value of the jackpot, if the grand prize is won on the next drawing, would be $79.7 million. It’s important to note that the aforementioned sums represent the prizes before the applicable state and federal taxes that may vary from one state to the other.

The next drawing for Powerball is scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2025. The drawings for the popular lottery game are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Players Across the Country Win Prizes Varying in Size

On Wednesday, there was only one player who was fortunate enough to match the five winning white balls for a tier-two prize. Usually, matching five would’ve granted the player a $1 million prize.

However, the player from Mississippi paid an extra $1 for the Power Play option, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by a random multiplier on each draw. As a result, the lucky Powerball player scored a $2 million win instead of the standard $1 million.

A dozen players across the country matched four white balls along with the red Powerball. Four of them won a prize of $100,000 each, while the remaining eight took home the standard tier-three prize of $50,000 each.

On the other hand, 210 players matched correctly four white balls. Out of that total, 66 collected a Power Play prize of $200 each, while the remaining will benefit from the standard $100 prize each.

The odds of winning the top prize from Powerball are always the same, 1 in 292.2 million. On the other hand, the overall odds of winning any prize from the game are 1 in 24.87.
