Key Points
  • The Monday Powerball drawing did not award a jackpot prize
  • However, one player in New York won a $1 million Match 5 prize
  • The jackpot has reached $194 million with a cash option of $86.7 million for the Wednesday drawing

The Monday Powerball drawing has gone without a jackpot winner. However, the game still minted a new Match 5 millionaire, this time in New York. With June 1 being recognized as International Children’s Day, at least one player in America fulfilled their childhood dream of winning big from the lottery.

New York Player Secures a $1M Prize

The drawing that took place yesterday saw participants play for an $181 million jackpot with a lump-sum value of $81 million. However, no player in the USA was sufficiently lucky to match all six numbers necessary for winning.

For reference, the winning numbers for the June 1 drawing were 2, 42, 47, 57, and 58, plus the red Powerball 14. The Power Play multiplier for the day was 3x.

While no one won the coveted jackpot, a few players came close. The most notable of these was a ticket-holder in New York, who matched all white numbers, but not the Powerball. As a result, the lucky player is eligible to claim a $1 million prize.

In addition to that, four players matched four white numbers and the Powerball to win the game’s third-tier prize. These included three players who secured prizes of $50,000 each, as well as a single player who won $150,000 thanks to the Power Play feature and the 3x multiplier.

Since the Powerball jackpot remained unclaimed, the prize has continued to swell in size, reaching some $194 million with a cash option of $86.7 million for the next drawing. Players will get another shot at the mouth-watering sum this Wednesday.

The Previous Drawings Did Not Award a Seven-Figure Prize

The Saturday Powerball drawing, on the other hand, awarded neither a jackpot nor a Match 5 prize, although it saw some fourteen people match four white numbers plus the Powerball to win prizes from $50,000 to $100,000.

Last Wednesday, eight lucky players took respectable prizes of $50,000 each, while eight others secured $200,000 each thanks to the Power Play feature and the 4x multiplier.

In terms of jackpots, Powerball has awarded five in 2026. The most recent wins happened at the end of April and the beginning of May, when two subsequent wins happened. This was notably the first time in several years that two jackpot wins happened back-to-back.
