New York Resident Bags $1M from Lottery
- The man won his ticket in October, but waited until recently to claim his prize in a lump sum
An upstate resident in New York has won a major lottery jackpot, scooping $1 million from the Million Dollar Raffle and securing one of 15 available top prizes.
The winner, identified as Amritpal Singh, bought his ticket at A&A Food Mart in Painted Post. The ticket was also bought all the way back in October last year, but the winner has only stepped forward to claim the reward now.
Singh has opted for the one-off payment package, which has reduced his price to a still substantial payout – $650,788. The shop itself will also scoop up a $5,000 bonus.
Such big lottery stories are heard all over the place. A person won a $3-million Mega Millions ticket in Florida, while a Powerball player stepped forward in North Carolina to scoop their $209.3m.
