Can Darnold Carry the Minnesota Vikings in 2024?

In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings drafted J. J. McCarthy who was supposed to be their solution for Kirk Cousins’ departure to Atlanta. However, the rookie QB suffered an injury that will keep him sidelined until the end of the season.

As a result, it’s Sam Darnold who will be their starting signal-caller. Although he’s been in the NFL since 2018, he hasn’t played much football lately. Last year, he started just one game with the San Francisco 49ers.

With the Vikings, he’s gonna have a starting role, but we probably won’t see him manage to put on the same level of performance as his predecessor. On the bright side for Minnesota, their running game should be okay in 2024, especially if RBs Aaron Jones and Ty Chandler do as well as expected.

The New York Giants did poorly last season, finishing the regular season with a 6-11 record and failing to qualify for the postseason for the sixth time in the last seven seasons. They’re determined to do better in 2024, and if you take a look at their roster, you’ll see that they have every right to feel ambitious.

Daniel Jones is their starting quarterback. He hasn’t done much since being drafted by the Giants in 2019, but there’s no doubt that this guy possesses a lot of talent. Jones is a very good rusher and will need to use his skills to gain some yards now that the Giants are without RB Saquon Barkley for the first time since 2018.

On the bright side for them, they signed Devin Singletary from Houston. This guy is an elite running back, so their ground game shouldn’t suffer.
