Michigan Lottery Elevates Joe Froehlich to COO Role

Before being appointed to the role of chief operating officer, the executive held a number of important positions with the Lottery

The Michigan Lottery confirmed an important senior-level promotion. On Thursday, the lottery revealed that it looked from within to select a new chief operating officer (COO). After careful consideration, Joe Froehlich, an executive with extensive experience, was chosen for the important role.

The appointment was confirmed by Suzanna Shkreli, the Michigan Lottery’s commissioner. Taking on the role of COO, Froehlich is expected to oversee strategic growth processes. He will be in charge of operational processes and collaborating with the C-suite at the lottery.

Overall, Froehlich has nearly two decades of experience within the legal and regulatory vertical across Michigan. Now, he will leverage his unique skills and extensive knowledge to help guide the growth of the lottery.

Prior to his appointment as chief operating officer, Froehlich held the dual role of deputy commissioner of legal affairs and charitable gaming and director of compliance and legal affairs. While holding those roles, Froehlich was able to gain significant insights into the lottery’s operations.

Undoubtedly, becoming acquainted with the day-to-day operations of the Michigan Lottery will help the new COO. Holding the dual role, Froehlich oversaw IT security, FOIA sections and Corporate Responsibility, while playing a key role in the Charitable Gaming and Security Divisions.
