Michigan: $2M Lottery Winner Plans to Quit Job, Relax and Travel
The exceptionally fortunate player scored a $2 million win from the Michigan Lottery's Ace of Spades instant game
Every lottery player dreams of winning a big prize. Once this happens, many wouldn’t even consider working a day longer in their life and this is exactly the case of one Oakland County, Michigan woman who recently scored a hefty lottery win.
The Woman Regularly Plays the Lottery
On Monday, the Michigan Lottery uncovered details regarding the fortunate 47-year-old winner who scored a big prize after purchasing a ticket for the Lottery’s Ace of Spades instant game. To the surprise of the regular lottery player, the $20 ticket turned into a mind-blowing $2 million win, as she scored the first out of three top prizes from the instant game.
The incredibly fortunate player purchased her winning ticket at Perry’s Palace at 411 North Perry Street in Pontiac. Considering that the 47-year-old woman decided to remain anonymous, it is likely that her identity will forever remain a mystery.
Suzanna Shkreli, the Lottery’s commissioner, spoke about the dream of every lottery player, which is winning big. The executive acknowledged that luck was on the side of the Oakland County resident who scored the top prize from the popular Ace of Spades instant game. “Congratulations to the lucky player on her big win,” Shkreli said in conclusion.
The Winner, Thrilled to Score the Big Prize, Plans to Quit Her Job and Go to Vacation
Speaking to Lottery officials, the 47-year-old winner revealed that she regularly buys lottery tickets and always hopes to win big. “When I scratched off my Ace of Spades ticket and saw I won $2 million, I was thrilled and couldn’t believe it was real! I called my mom right away to tell her the big news,” the lucky winner recalled.
Visiting the Lottery headquarters to claim her prize, the Oakland County woman faced a difficult choice. The lottery player was presented with the option to collect a cash sum of $1.3 million or take home the entire $2 million prize via annual installments. Likely, the winner didn’t hesitate long as she selected the cash sum, a choice that is usual for winners of large lottery prizes.
Hoping to win big and making her wish come true, the 47-year-old winner already has plans for her life after the lottery win. Acknowledging that the win comes as a “huge relief,” the woman admitted that her plan now is to quit her job and relax. She also hinted at plans for a vacation and saving the rest of the winnings.
