Kindred to Boost Harm Detection as High-Risk Revenue Rises

Per the initiative, Kindred has been publishing quarterly updates about its share of revenue from harmful gambling

Kindred Group published its latest Journey Towards Zero report, highlighting a slight increase in its share of revenue coming from high-risk players. As a result, the online operator expressed its commitment to further improving its detection and intervention systems.

Kindred’s High-Risk Revenue Increased Slightly in Q3

In the third quarter of 2024, the company’s gross winnings revenue from high-risk players reached 3.2%, representing a slight quarter-on-quarter increase from Q2 when only 3% of the company’s revenues came from riskier bettors.

In the meantime, the percentage of consumers who exhibited improvement after intervention increased from 86.8% in Q2 to 87.3% in Q3. On a year-on-year basis, the figures represent an improvement from Q3 2023 when Kindred recorded a 3.3% share of gross winnings revenue from high-risk players and an improvement rate of 86.7%.

While the slight fluctuations continue, the overall trends highlight Kindred’s dedication to lowering its share of revenue from riskier players and continuously improving the interventions it applies to nurture safer gambling habits among its players.

Kindred officials teased that the company is working on further improvements and optimizations that would make its detection system even better.

For context, Journey Towards Zero was launched in 2021. Per the initiative, Kindred has been publishing quarterly updates about its share of revenue from harmful gambling. The company believes that this initiative is crucial to maintaining transparency, fostering a factual dialogue and ushering in a more sustainable gambling industry.

Kindred Will Use Its Knowledge as Basis for Improvements

Esther Scheepers, Kindred Group’s head of responsible gambling, commented on the slight rise in high-risk revenue, calling it a challenge that underscores the need for further advancements in harm identification and intervention. Scheepers noted that Kindred recognizes this need and intends to broaden its focus to “ensure comprehensive coverage across more areas related to safer gambling.”

The future strategy will build on the insight and understanding Kindred has so far gained from its in-house detection system.

Scheepers added that the sophistication of support tools is something very important to the modern gaming market, prompting Kindred to leverage its best knowledge and tech to enhance its detection capabilities.

We are currently upgrading our detection system with a new improved system, which will enable us to integrate more robust compliance features and optimize our overall approach to safer gambling. Additionally, we are exploring opportunities to expand and refine our research initiatives, particularly in areas shaped by current trends and emerging issues in consumer protection.
