Betsson to Leave the US B2C Market by the End of September
On September 30, Betsafe will close all customer accounts, marking the end of its B2C business in the USA
Betsson, an online betting operator, has confirmed its B2C exit from the highly competitive US market. The company’s decision comes amid an ongoing exodus that has seen several B2B and B2C brands leave.
Betsson Will Exit Colorado
Betsson announced its intention to cease operating Betsafe in America in a recent email to its players. Betsafe, for context, was launched in Colorado in 2022. Its foray into the state followed an earlier 10-year agreement with the Dostal Alley Casino.
Betsson did not opt to launch Betsafe in other states and did not disclose the financials of its Colorado venture in its official reports. In any case, its exit follows the departure of other betting companies that have failed to challenge the dominance of FanDuel and DraftKings.
From September 6, Betsafe will no longer accept new registrations. The same date, furthermore, would mark the last date on which customers can deposit money into their betting accounts.
Then, from September 16 onward, players would no longer be able to place new wagers. They will have until September 27 to withdraw all their money. On September 30, Betsafe will close all customer accounts, marking the end of its B2C business in the USA.
Players Should Contact Customer Support for Further Inquiries
As mentioned, Betsson’s Betsafe brand would cease all B2C operations in Colorado by September 30. However, Betsson is yet to confirm the fate of long-term futures and other bets that have been placed for events that will take place or conclude after Betsafe has ceased operating.
As of the time of this writing, the operator’s FAQ section does not provide further information about the exit. However, the company urged its customers to contact customer support if they have any questions regarding the matter.
While Betsson has firmly decided to depart from the USA, it will still maintain some presence in the Americas. The company will continue to operate the Betsafe brand in Ontario, as well as in Peru, where it launched earlier this year. Betsson was also among the companies that applied for a license in Brazil as the country continues its strides toward regulated online betting.
In other news, Betsson just unveiled a new partnership with Premier Padel. The operator remains one of the staunchest supporters of padel tennis and highlighted its commitment to internationally promoting the sport.
