A wrongful death lawsuit filed in a Las Vegas court brings renewed attention to the 2024 killing of Larissa Garcia. Her death inside a Palms hotel room has led to serious allegations against the casino resort where she was found, as well as the local escort agency that had hired her.

Fight Over Money

The 30-year-old mother of two was found unresponsive in a room at the Palms on June 12, 2024. She had been meeting a client who later alleged that the woman had suffered an overdose

The claim was quickly rejected by medical staff once she reached Spring Valley Hospital, where doctors found no signs of drugs or alcohol in her system.

They did, however, document a series of injuries consistent with a violent assault and severe brain trauma.

The woman remained in critical condition for several days before she was declared dead on June 21, 2024.

Authorities identified the client she had been in the room with using hotel records as well as text messages on the woman’s phone. Also, surveillance camera images that were cited in court filings allegedly show the two meeting in the hotel lobby and going upstairs together.

The images also reportedly show the man leaving the hotel alone about an hour later. According to investigators, no one else entered the room before the first responders arrived.

They Didn’t Take Reasonable Measures to Prevent This

According to statements summarized in court documents, the man had an argument over payment, physically attacking Garcia before leaving the scene and later reporting an overdose.

The man currently faces serious criminal charges, though court records show he has been found not competent to stand trial at this time.

The civil lawsuit, filed at the start of May 2026, names the Palms Casino Resort and an escort agency operator as defendants. It argues that both parties failed to take reasonable steps that could have reduced the risk of harm.

The complaint claims the resort ignored clear warning signs, including possible disturbances in the hotel room and suspicious activity involving guests and visitors. It also alleges that security practices were insufficient and that the property did not intervene when there were opportunities to do so.

The lawsuit also accuses the escort agency of putting Garcia in a dangerous situation by using a payment system that encouraged risky encounters while taking a large portion of her earnings in ways that may have violated state law.

Garcia’s family is now seeking damages for her death, pain and suffering, and the emotional and financial impact on her children.
