Woman Linked to March Homicides, Robbery at Illegal Gambling Club Arrested

The 35-year-old woman was arrested on a felony warrant and is currently being held on a $250,000 bond

A young woman, suspected of being linked to an armed robbery at an illegal gambling venue that resulted in the death of two men was recently arrested and charged. The case involved a shooting from March 2024 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

At the time, two men tried to rob an illegal gambling joint. While the duo was armed, they faced gunfire from one of the patrons and ended up being fatally shot.

On Wednesday, The Bridgeport Police Department uncovered details regarding the latest person arrested in relation to the bloody crime. A 35-year-old woman identified with the initials S.M. was arrested on Tuesday on an active felony warrant during a vehicle stop completed by the Bridgeport Police Task Force Officers.

Currently, the young woman faces charges for her involvement in the operation of the illegal gambling club. Besides charges for running the club, the 35-year-old was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree. The woman is being held on a bond of $250,000.

The Illegal Gambling Club Was Closed Down for Good

The latest arrest comes after an extensive investigation by law enforcement. In the process, detectives reviewed CCTV footage and identified that S.M. was the person who let the two robbers inside the illegal gambling joint. She allegedly sat at the same table with the two men before the robbery began.

Following the deadly shooting, law enforcement shut down the illegal gambling den which was located on 1542 Stratford Ave. Bridgeport Mayor Joseph P. Gamin, together with Bridgeport Police chief Roderick Porter Sr. participated in a press conference in front of the illegal gambling club and encouraged residents to report unlawful actions around their neighborhoods.

Police Arrested Several People after the Deadly Shooting

The deadly shooting on March 30, 2024, claimed the lives of two armed men who attempted to rob the illegal gambling outlet. One of the robbers was a 30-year-old man identified with the initials R.D., while the other one was a 33-year-old man with the initials T.G.

While the robbers held the gamblers at gunpoint, one of the gamblers opened fire on them. The two robbers were fatally injured during the exchange of fire, while the 35-year-old woman who was recently detained suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The gambler who opened fire on the robbers was harmed but survived.

During the investigation, law enforcement arrested two other individuals, who were found to have taken firearms from the deceased robbers in the aftermath of the shooting. For their involvement, they are facing different charges, including stealing a firearm, tampering with evidence and criminal possession of a firearm.
