Sydney Resident Turns Dollar Ticket Into AU$1.4M Windfall
The player scored the Lotto Strike jackpot for a whopping AU$1,487,810 payday
There’s a saying that lightning only strikes once. While that may be the case for some, it is certainly not what happened to one incredibly lucky lottery player from New South Wales, Australia.
St Clair Resident Claims Lotto Strike Jackpot
On Thursday, the Lott confirmed that a man from St Clair hit the jackpot from its Lotto Strike game on the drawing on Monday, November 4, 2024. Matching correctly the winning numbers 36, 37, 6 and 4 on draw 5536, the Sydney player won the game’s jackpot, a whopping AU$1,487,810 ($992,250).
Shockingly, this wasn’t the first hefty win for the lucky St Clair man. Speaking to lottery officials, the man said that he often plays the lottery and has previously won an AU$50,000 ($33,300) second chance jackpot prize. While the previous win is no match for the latest jackpot, it certainly is a testament to the luck of the lottery player.
The popular lottery game Lotto Strike is an additional game to the Saturday Lotto and Weekday Windfall. To win the jackpot prize, players need to match the winning numbers that are drawn in the same order as the drawing. If there’s no division one winner, the jackpot prize pool is kept until the next draw.
According to the Lott, the winning ticket was purchased at Foodworks St Clair, Shop 13-14 on 46-52 Melville Road in St Clair. Surprisingly, to score the million-dollar prize, the fortunate player spent only AU$1.15 ($0.77).
Persistency Pays Off
The St Clair man admitted that he checks his tickets on Wednesdays. Once he accessed the lottery’s websites and clicked on the Lotto Strike section, he was shocked to see the numbers he used. The win was so surprising for the man as he had used the same numbers for some 20 years.
“I logged onto the computer, hit Lotto Strike and there were the numbers! I think I must’ve double-checked the win about 100 times. I’ve been playing these numbers for that long, probably over 20 years,“
the recent Lotto Strike jackpot winner admitted
The New South Welshman said that one of his friends recently won a Powerball jackpot. “We thought that was unbelievable and now look! We’ve managed to win the Lotto too,” exclaimed the lucky winner. The fortunate winner thanked the lottery for the latest windfall. He admitted that the money he won would help him retire but didn’t share further plans about the jackpot win.
