Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $178M for Friday Drawing

The Mega Millions jackpot has went unclaimed for yet another drawing and so have the game’s Match 5 prizes. The game has been experiencing a temporary lull, although this isn’t all that surprising considering that not one but two jackpots were won in March.

Mega Millions Jackpot Remains Unconquered

The Tuesday Mega Millions drawing went without a winner as players failed to match all six winning numbers to win the game’s top prize. No one succeeded in matching the five white numbers either, although a few players succeeded in matching four white numbers and the gold Mega Ball to win five-figure sums.

The winning numbers drawn on April 28 were 14, 36, 41, 47, and 66, plus the gold Mega Ball 15. Matching all of them would have resulted in a windfall of $163 million if a hypothetical winner picked the annuity for the full sum, or $72.9 million if they went for the one-time lump-sum payment.

Matching the five white numbers only, on the other hand, means a prize ranging from $2 million to $10 million, depending on the ticket’s multiplier. However, this was the fourth drawing in a row without such a prize.

Still, four players managed to match four white numbers and the Mega Ball to secure themselves various five-figure prizes. Two of them got $20,000 each, one got $30,000, and another one got $40,000.

The jackpot has now reached $178 million with a cash option of $79.6 million. The next drawing is set to take place this Friday, at 11 pm ET.

Two Mega Millions Jackpots Have Been Won in 2026

The first two Mega Millions jackpots for 2026 were won in March. The first of these was scooped up by a lucky player in Illinois who matched all winning numbers. A few days later, the player came forward to claim the jaw-dropping $536 million she won.

Only two drawings after this, a different player in Ohio won a $60 million jackpot on St. Patrick’s Day. The winner turned out to be the Happy Trails Trust, which earlier this month, sent a representative to collect the winnings.
