Powerball Jackpot Swells to $275M for Upcoming Drawing

The grand prize from the popular game continues to increase ever since it was last won back in August

Many Powerball players tried their luck on Monday but sadly nobody was able to win the estimated $258 million jackpot.

Nobody Matched All Winning Numbers on Monday’s Powerball Draw

The popular game’s latest drawing saw winning white balls 9, 11, 30, 43, 69 and red Powerball 20 drawn. The jackpot, estimated at $258 million or $129.5 million in cash, survived once again and as a result, continues to grow.

After nobody won the Powerball grand prize on Monday, it will now continue to increase for the next drawing. The next draw of the popular lottery game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

If an incredibly lucky lottery player matches all winning numbers from the upcoming draw, they would win an estimated $275 million jackpot. The cash option in this case would be $137.8 million. Similar to other large lottery prizes, the players can select either to collect the full jackpot through an annuity option or take home a lump cash sum.

Undoubtedly, the $137.8 million cash option isn’t anywhere near the size of the full jackpot which is estimated at $275 million. However, the former option is usually most popular for such large jackpot winners.

The last time a player won the jackpot from Powerball was back in mid-August. At the time, a single Powerball ticket in California matched all winning numbers for a $44.3 million payday. Surprisingly, this was the second win for August.

Since then, the jackpot kept growing as nobody was lucky enough the beat the odds of 1 in 292.2 million for the grand prize. With that in mind, the overall odds of winning any prize from Powerball are 1 in 24.9.

A Dozen Players Matched Four Winning Numbers

In the latest drawing, not only did nobody win the Powerball grand prize, but also there was nobody who matched five white balls for a $1 million prize.

On the bright side, a dozen players matched four white balls along with the red Powerball. While a total of 11 players won the standard $50,000 prize each, one lucky winner paid extra to access the game’s Power Play feature, securing a $100,000 Power Play prize from Monday’s drawing.

In total, 260 lottery players matched four white balls from the latest Powerball drawing. From that total, 92 Power Play ticket holders collected $200 each, while the remainder took home the standard prize of $100 each.
